It's also kind of tedious when you just want to build stuff. Research Complete skips the entire process. Press one button and every recipe in the game is yours. Advanced grills, engines, steering wheels, collection nets - all unlocked instantly. This is perfect for starting a new game without the grind, recovering from a corrupted save, or just wanting to experiment with late-game items from the start. What does Research Complete do in Raft?
It instantly unlocks every crafting recipe in Raft with a single button press. No more hauling 47 different scraps to the research table hoping you've fed it the right combination. Will Research Complete affect my Raft save or progression?
It only changes the recipe-unlock state. Your story progression, inventory, raft layout, achievements, character, and everything else in your save are untouched. Once recipes are unlocked through the ProjectMods mod they stay unlocked because Raft treats them as normal unlocks — there's no easy way to relock a single recipe afterward, but new saves go back to vanilla research behavior. So you can pop the unlock on one save without affecting future fresh starts. The mod is reversible in the sense that disabling it doesn't keep granting new unlocks, but the unlocks you already triggered are persistent.
Is the research grind really worth skipping in Raft?
Depends on the run. First playthrough: arguably worth doing legitimately, since researching items is part of Raft's core progression loop and the slow ramp into engines/steering wheels is satisfying. Second playthrough or beyond: most players find it tedious, since you already know which items go where and you're just executing a checklist. Research Complete from ProjectMods is built for the second case — it respects your time when you've already proven you can do the grind and want to focus on building, exploring, or content creation instead.
Can I use Research Complete in co-op Raft sessions?
Yes. Research Complete runs on the host's machine and unlocks recipes for the host's save. Other players in the co-op session need the mod installed on their own machines and to trigger the action themselves if they want their personal saves unlocked too. Useful for co-op replays where everyone wants to skip the research grind together, or solo-host runs where you're the builder and the rest are along for the ride. Mods can behave differently across Raft patch states though, so test a short session before relying on it for a long run.
Will Research Complete unlock late-game items I haven't reached yet?
Yes — that's part of the appeal. The mod doesn't care where you are in the story; it unlocks every recipe in Raft's database immediately, including endgame ones from Tangaroa, Varuna, and Temperance content you might not have reached yet.
