</>What does On The Payroll (Police Protection) do?

On The Payroll puts the local police on a weekly retainer. Switch on Keep The Police Paid and the Weekly Payment comes out of your bank balance. While the week is paid, officers won't chase you down, and a chase that's already on gets called off when you pay. The payment comes due every seven in-game days and goes through on its own while there's enough in your bank. It shows up in your bank history as Police Protection. If your bank can't cover it when it's due, the arrangement ends and the police come looking for you. Top your bank up and protection starts again as soon as the next payment goes through. Press Check My Protection any time in your save to see whether you're covered, when the next payment is due and how much is in your bank. Switching Keep The Police Paid off puts the police back to normal straight away. A week you've already paid for is remembered for that save, so switching back on within the week costs nothing extra. In co-op, the host switches it on and pays, and the whole crew is covered.

</>What is On The Payroll (Police Protection)?

One police chase can ruin your day in Schedule I. On The Payroll pays the police weekly from your bank, so officers won't chase you and a chase already on gets called off. Miss a payment and they come looking. In co-op, the host pays and the whole crew is covered. </>Common questions about On The Payroll (Police Protection)

What does On The Payroll do in Schedule I?

On The Payroll puts the Schedule I police on a weekly payment. Switch on Keep The Police Paid and your Weekly Payment comes out of your bank balance, showing up in your bank history as Police Protection. Each payment covers seven in-game days. While the week is paid, officers won't chase you, and any chase already going on is called off the moment you pay. The next payment goes through by itself when it's due, as long as your bank can cover it. In co-op, the host pays and the whole crew is covered. Switch it on in the ProjectMods desktop app, the community-first PC mod manager.

What happens if I miss a payment in On The Payroll?

If your bank can't cover the Weekly Payment when it comes due, On The Payroll's protection ends and the Schedule I police come looking. Officers go back to normal straight away, and as soon as you're up and about, the police are called on you (the host, in co-op) and the chase goes up one level. The game's own pop-up tells you the payment was missed. Getting back on the payroll is easy, though: top up your bank at an ATM and protection starts again as soon as a payment goes through. If your bank is short when you first switch the mod on, nothing happens until there's enough, and a pop-up reminds you once a day.

Does On The Payroll stop the police completely in Schedule I?

No. On The Payroll stops officers chasing you while your week is paid, but the police don't vanish from Schedule I. Officers keep up their patrols; they just won't chase you or anyone else in your session. It doesn't lift the curfew either; Night Owl, another ProjectMods mod for Schedule I, handles that. It also gives you no protection from the Benzies. Payments only ever come from your bank balance, never cash in hand, so keep depositing at an ATM if you want the arrangement to last. Think of it as paying for a week without chases, nothing more.

How much can I set the Weekly Payment to in On The Payroll?

On The Payroll's Weekly Payment goes from $100 to $100,000 in steps of $100, starting at $2,000. It always comes out of your Schedule I bank balance, the money you've deposited at an ATM, never cash in hand. A new amount applies from the next payment, not to the week you've already paid for. Any amount buys the same protection, so set whatever feels fair for your business. Press Check My Protection any time in your save to see whether you're covered, which day the next payment is due and how many days are left, the weekly amount and your bank balance.

Will On The Payroll charge me twice if I reload my save or switch it back on?

No. On The Payroll remembers the week you've paid for in each Schedule I save, so reloading never takes a second payment, and switching Keep The Police Paid back on within that week costs nothing extra. Switching it off puts every officer it changed back to normal straight away, with no refund and no penalty. So you can turn protection off when you fancy a proper chase, then switch it back on later in the week without paying again. In co-op, only the host can switch it on and pay; if a guest tries, the mod tells them so.

What options does On The Payroll (Police Protection) include?

Keep The Police Paid

Pays the Weekly Payment from your bank every seven days and keeps the police off you while you're paid up. Miss a payment and they come after you.

Check My Protection

Tells you whether you're covered, when the next payment is due and how much is in your bank.

Weekly Payment

How much comes out of your bank each week to keep the police paid.

Quick Answer

On The Payroll, a ProjectMods mod for Schedule I, pays the police a weekly sum from your bank so officers won't chase you while the week is paid, but miss a payment and the police come looking.

System Requirements

OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Processor: 3GHz 4-Core or similar
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580
Storage: 8 GB available space

What features does On The Payroll (Police Protection) include?

  • Switch on Keep The Police Paid and your Weekly Payment comes out of your bank balance, not your cash, every in-game week.
  • Stops officers from chasing you for seven in-game days per payment. They still patrol, and a chase already on ends when you pay.
  • Press Check My Protection to see whether you're covered, when the next payment's due and what's left in your bank.
  • Miss a payment and the arrangement's off: the police come looking for you. Top up your bank and it restarts with the next payment.
  • Covers your whole co-op group: the host switches it on, pays from the bank, and officers won't chase any of you.

Best For

  • Players with a healthy bank balance who'd rather pay a weekly sum than keep getting chased while they sell across Hyland Point.
  • Co-op hosts whose friends keep ending up in police chases: pay once from the bank and nobody in the group gets chased for the next seven in-game days.
  • Players who miss the thrill of a chase now and then: switch Keep The Police Paid off for a night, then back on within the week without paying twice.
  • Roleplayers who want a paid-off police force with real stakes: set a Weekly Payment as steep as $100,000 and keep the bank topped up, because a missed payment sends the police after you.
  • Players still building up their bank balance who switch it on early: nothing is charged or held against them until there's enough, then the first week kicks in.
