</>What does Wishcraft (Build From Nothing) do?
Spiritfarer is a gentle game with one very ungentle habit: before you can make almost anything, you have to go and fetch it. Six maple logs here, four linen there, a stack of ore you have to mine, ship home and smelt first. The idea for your boat arrives in seconds. The materials take hours. Wishcraft closes that gap with three switches you turn on separately. All three start off, so nothing changes until you decide how much of the fetching you want to keep. Cook Without Ingredients keeps the kitchen going. Load it the way you always would, wait out the timer, and you get the dish and your ingredients back. The shelf you leave things on to ferment works the same way. One armful of produce becomes dinner for every spirit aboard, which matters most on the nights when three of them want three different meals and your pantry is down to its last basket. Craft Without Ingredients does the same at five of your workshop stations. Work the bellows at the Foundry and the ingots drop while your ore and coal come straight back to you. Feed the Windmill and you keep the grain along with the flour. Weave at the Loom and your thread is waiting for you again. Crush a rock at the Crusher and you still have the rock. Cut at the Sawmill and the planks stack up with your log still in the hold. Gather for one afternoon, then make things all evening. Build Without Materials is the big one. Blueprints, boat upgrades, improvements, every building you place on the deck, plus decorations and figureheads, all go up whether or not you own a single plank. The requirement list still reports your real stock, so you may well be staring at a red 0/6 as you confirm — press on anyway and the building goes up, and the wood and cloth you already worked for stay exactly where they are. Glims are untouched on purpose. Wishcraft is about materials, not money, so every price tag still gets paid, and an upgrade you can't afford is still turned down at the counter. Because the three switches are independent, you can hand yourself a whole shipyard while still cooking honestly, smelt all you like while you build the hard way, or any mix you want. Switch any of them off whenever you want the gathering back. Nothing is permanently changed on your save, so you can build a dream boat this evening and go back to chopping your own maple tomorrow.
</>What is Wishcraft (Build From Nothing)?
Wishcraft cuts the gathering grind in Spiritfarer down to a single trip. Three separate switches cover cooking, the Foundry, Windmill, Loom, Crusher and Sawmill, and every building, upgrade and decoration — your materials come straight back while the finished item stays. Glims are still charged. From ProjectMods, the community-first PC mod manager for 400+ games.
</>Common questions about Wishcraft (Build From Nothing)
What does Wishcraft (Build From Nothing) do in Spiritfarer?
Wishcraft (Build From Nothing) lets you cook, craft and build in Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition without spending the ingredients or materials a recipe or blueprint asks for. It ships as three separate switches — Cook Without Ingredients, Craft Without Ingredients and Build Without Materials — and all three start switched off, so nothing changes until you choose it. When one is on, the finished dish, ingot, cloth or building still arrives, but what it would have consumed is handed straight back to your supplies. Glims are the one thing Wishcraft never touches, so every price tag on the boat still gets paid.
What are the three switches in Wishcraft?
Wishcraft splits Spiritfarer into three independent switches so you decide how much gathering you keep. Cook Without Ingredients covers your kitchen and the shelf you leave things on to ferment — load it as normal, wait out the timer, and you get the dish plus your produce back. Craft Without Ingredients covers the Foundry, the Windmill, the Loom, the Crusher and the Sawmill, so ore, grain, thread, rock and logs all return once the work is done. Build Without Materials handles buildings, blueprints, boat upgrades, improvements, decorations and figureheads. Each one is a separate toggle, so you can hand yourself a whole shipyard while still cooking honestly.
Does Wishcraft affect shops and quest turn-ins as well?
No — Wishcraft only reaches the crafting and building side of Spiritfarer. Shops, quest turn-ins and story checks all still look at what you genuinely own, so if a spirit asks for six linen before they'll move on, you still need six linen sitting in your inventory. The same goes for anything you sell or hand over at a stall. That boundary is deliberate: Wishcraft is meant to remove the hours of chopping, mining and hauling between an idea and a finished boat, not to shortcut the story beats or hand you an endless pile of goods to trade with.
Do I still have to pay Glims with Wishcraft turned on?
Yes. Glims are charged in full no matter which Wishcraft switches you have on in Spiritfarer, because the mod deals with materials and not money. If a boat upgrade costs more Glims than you're carrying, the shipyard still turns you down, exactly as it would in a normal save. That's on purpose — it keeps a real limit on how fast the boat grows, so the thing you build this evening still feels earned rather than handed over. If your wallet is the part you'd rather not worry about, that's a job for a separate Glims mod, not this one.
Why does the build menu still show a red 0/6 when Build Without Materials is on?
Because Wishcraft doesn't rewrite what the requirement rows say — it changes what happens when you confirm. In Spiritfarer the shipyard keeps reporting your real stock, so a blueprint that wants six maple will still show a red 0/6 next to it if your hold is empty. Press confirm anyway and the building goes up. Nothing leaves your supplies, the red counts just sit there looking wrong. It's worth knowing before you assume the toggle isn't working: the honest numbers are a feature, not a bug, because they tell you exactly how much you'd owe if you switched Wishcraft back off.
What options does Wishcraft (Build From Nothing) include?
Cook Without Ingredients
Load your kitchen, or the shelf you leave things on to ferment, exactly as you normally would. When the timer runs out you get the dish and you get your ingredients back, so one armful of produce can feed the whole boat. Turn it off to cook the normal way.
Build Without Materials
Place buildings, buy blueprints, boat upgrades, improvements, decorations and figureheads without owning the materials they ask for, and nothing leaves your supplies when you confirm. Glims are still charged. Turn it off to build the normal way.
Craft Without Ingredients
Covers the Foundry, the Windmill, the Loom, the Crusher and the Sawmill. Load any of them the way you always would, and when the work is done you keep what it made and get your materials handed straight back. Gather once, then pour ingots, grind flour, weave cloth, crush rock and saw planks all evening. Turn it off to use your materials up the normal way.
Wishcraft (Build From Nothing) is a Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition mod from ProjectMods that gives your ingredients and materials back after you cook, craft or build, so recipes and blueprints complete without draining your supplies. Glims are still charged.
System Requirements
What features does Wishcraft (Build From Nothing) include?
- Cook in the kitchen or leave things on the fermenting shelf, and your ingredients come back with the finished dish.
- Pour ingots, grind flour, weave cloth, crush rock and saw planks while your ore, grain, thread, stone and logs stay put in your supplies.
- Place buildings, boat upgrades, blueprints, decorations and figureheads without owning a single plank of the materials they ask for.
- Toggle cooking, crafting and building separately. All three start off, so you keep as much of the gathering as you like.
- Watch your wallet instead of your woodpile, since Glims still get charged and shop trades and quest hand-ins spend real supplies.
Best For
- Players deep into the boat build who keep landing one upgrade short on maple and don't want another lap of the map.
- Anyone feeding a deck full of spirits who all want something different on the same night with a nearly empty pantry.
- Second-run players who already did the honest gathering once and want every building, decoration and figurehead this time around.
- Streamers showing off a finished boat on camera without making chat sit through an hour of ore runs first.
- Short-session players with half an hour to sail and talk to spirits, who'd rather not spend it chopping maple.
