</>What does Iron Throne do?
Some nights the horde is just too much, and one unlucky breach ends the run. Iron Throne lets you decide what survives no matter what. Shield your ruler so a stray arrow never ends your kingdom, lock your towers and walls so nothing gets torn down, and keep your troops on their feet through the worst waves. Turn on all three for a truly unbreakable kingdom, or just protect your ruler and keep the challenge alive everywhere else. Enemies still take full damage — only your side is protected.

</>Common questions about Iron Throne
What does Iron Throne do in Thronefall?
Iron Throne lets you make your side of Thronefall unkillable and choose exactly what gets protected. Some nights the horde is just too much and one unlucky breach ends the run — Iron Throne removes that risk on your terms. You can shield your ruler so a stray arrow never ends your kingdom, lock your towers and walls so nothing gets torn down, and keep your troops on their feet through the worst waves. Turn on all three for a truly unbreakable kingdom, or protect only what you choose and keep the challenge alive elsewhere. Enemies still take full damage — only your side is protected. It's part of the ProjectMods Thronefall catalog.
What are the three things Iron Throne can protect?
Iron Throne splits its protection into three parts in Thronefall, and you decide which to switch on. First, your ruler — shield the character whose death ends the run, so a stray hit can never cost you the game. Second, your buildings — lock your towers and walls so the enemy can't tear down your defenses no matter how hard they push. Third, your troops — keep your soldiers on their feet through waves that would normally wipe them out. You can enable any combination: all three for a completely unbreakable kingdom, or just one or two to shore up a specific weak point while keeping the rest of the fight genuinely dangerous.
Do enemies still take damage while Iron Throne is on?
Yes. Iron Throne only protects your side of the fight in Thronefall — enemies still take full damage the entire time. Your towers fire, your ruler swings, and your troops attack exactly as normal; the horde dies just as fast as it always would. The mod simply stops your own ruler, buildings, or troops from being destroyed, depending on what you've enabled. That means you can stand your ruler in the middle of a wave and cut it down without fear, or let your walls soak an endless assault while your towers grind the attackers away. It's one-sided invulnerability, not a freeze on combat.
Can I protect just my ruler and leave the rest vulnerable?
Absolutely — that's one of Iron Throne's most popular setups in Thronefall. Shield only your ruler so a single unlucky hit can't end the run, while your towers, walls, and troops still take damage and can still fall. This keeps most of the challenge intact: you can lose defenses and have to rebuild or adapt, but you'll never suffer the instant game-over of a dead ruler. It's a great middle ground for players who want a safety net without trivializing the whole night. Prefer total safety instead? Enable all three protections. Pair it with Gold Rush and Free Real Estate, other ProjectMods Thronefall mods, to rebuild and reinforce freely while your ruler stays untouchable.
Why would I use Iron Throne?
Iron Throne is for the nights when Thronefall's difficulty stops being fun and one breach ends everything. Maybe you want to learn a hard map without restarting constantly, experiment with a risky layout, or just enjoy a relaxed power-fantasy run where your kingdom simply cannot fall. Because you pick what's protected, you can also tune the challenge — full invulnerability for a stress-free build, or ruler-only protection to keep the tension high while removing the cheap instant-loss. Content creators like it for showing off a defense on camera without a run-ending accident. Turn any protection off whenever you want the danger back.
What options does Iron Throne include?
Protect Your Troops

Protect Your Buildings

Protect Your Ruler
Your ruler can’t be knocked out no matter what hits them.
Iron Throne is a Thronefall mod from ProjectMods that can make your ruler, your buildings, and your troops unkillable, and you choose exactly which of the three to protect.
