</>What does Trail Blazer (Instant Fast Travel) do?
Big Walk is a game about the journey, right up until your friend has to go for dinner and comes back to find everyone three valleys ahead of them. Trail Blazer gives you a list of every named place the island knows about. Press Refresh Destinations to fill the list in, pick where you want to be, press Travel, and you are there. It also writes the whole list of places out where you can read it, which is a quietly good way to spot the corners of the map you have not visited yet. Perfect for regrouping after someone drops out, getting back to a puzzle you gave up on, or showing a friend the view you found while they were away.

</>Common questions about Trail Blazer (Instant Fast Travel)
What does Trail Blazer do in Big Walk?
Trail Blazer gathers every named landmark the island currently knows about into a dropdown, then moves you to whichever one you pick. You arrive properly, standing on your feet at the spot you chose, exactly as if you had walked the whole way there yourself. In practice it is three presses: Refresh Destinations to fill the list, choose where you want to be, then Travel. It is at its best when the group has drifted apart and somebody needs to catch up, or when you want to get back to a puzzle you walked away from an hour ago and would rather not re-walk the route.
Why is the Destination list empty when I first load in?
Because Big Walk's travel points load in as you progress, so at the start there is very little for Trail Blazer to list. Press Refresh Destinations and the mod rebuilds the list from the world around you at that moment. Do it again later in the walk and you will usually find the list has grown considerably, as more of the island has come into play. This is the one bit of the mod worth knowing before you use it: an empty or short dropdown is not a fault, it just means the world has not offered up those places yet. Refresh is always the fix.
What is the file Trail Blazer writes out for?
Every time you press Refresh Destinations, Trail Blazer also writes the full list of named places out to a file you can open and read. It started as a convenience — the dropdown can get long — but it turns out to be a quietly good way to spot corners of Big Walk's island you have not visited yet. Seeing a name you do not recognise on the list is usually a sign there is somewhere worth walking to. You can travel straight there if you want, or note it down and go the long way on foot, which is rather more in the spirit of the game.
What if two places on the island have similar names?
Trail Blazer handles that carefully. Two places with almost the same name stay separate in the list, and the one you highlight is the one you land at — a short name will never quietly send you to a longer one that happens to contain it. Places that genuinely share a name are not folded together into a single entry either. They each get their own line in the dropdown, numbered so you can tell them apart, and you choose between them rather than the mod picking for you. The upshot is that what you select is what you get, even on an island with a lot of similarly named spots.
When is Trail Blazer most worth using on a group walk?
When the group has come apart. Somebody steps away for dinner, comes back to find everyone three valleys further on, and their choice is a twenty-minute jog or a couple of presses — Trail Blazer is the couple of presses. It is just as good for going back to a puzzle you all gave up on last session, or for pulling a friend over to the view you found while they were away, before the light moves on. Pair it with Ghost Rambler if you would rather scout somewhere first, or Pace Setter if you fancy covering the ground on foot after all.
