The island is enormous and that is rather the point - but sometimes you have already seen this stretch, or your friend has wandered half a valley ahead and you would quite like to catch up before the conversation moves on without you. Pace Setter gives you one slider that scales every way you move: walking, sprinting, shuffling along in a crouch, and swimming. Drop it below 100% for a proper amble when you want to soak in the view, or push it up when you need to cover ground. It applies to you and you alone, so you can use it while playing with friends without changing how anyone else moves. Turn it off and your speed goes straight back to normal. Pairs nicely with Moon Boots if you want to cover ground upwards as well as forwards.

What does Pace Setter do in Big Walk?
Pace Setter scales every form of your own movement in Big Walk from a single percentage slider. Walking, sprinting, crouch-walking, sprint-crouching, swimming and sprint-swimming all move together, so there is no odd mismatch where you run fast but swim at normal speed. Below 100 it becomes a deliberate amble, good for actually looking at the island rather than passing through it. Above 100 it is a way to close the gap on a friend who wandered ahead while you stopped to look at something. Only you move differently — everyone else in the session walks at Big Walk's normal pace.
Can I use Pace Setter as a guest, or does the host need it?
You can use it as a guest, and the host does not need it. Movement in Big Walk is personal to each player, so a speed change on your end genuinely only affects you — nobody else in the session moves differently, and it does not matter who is hosting. That makes Pace Setter one of the easier mods to use in a mixed group where not everyone has it. It also means there is nothing to negotiate before you set off: turn it on, pick the number you want, and the rest of the group carries on at their normal pace while you amble or sprint.
How fast or slow can I set the Speed Multiplier?
Speed Multiplier is a percentage of Big Walk's normal movement, with 100 being stock. The slider runs from 50 all the way up to 1000, so there is a lot of room at both ends. Around 50 gives you a slow amble — genuinely nice on a first walk through a stretch you have not seen, because the island rewards going slowly. Around 400 is a sprint across the valley, which is what you want when you already know a route and just need to be at the other end of it. Past that it gets properly silly, which is its own kind of fun. It can be nudged while you are already walking, so you are never locked into one setting for a whole session.
Does leaving Pace Setter on for hours make me faster and faster?
No. The number on the slider is always measured against Big Walk's normal walking speed, not against whatever you happen to be moving at now, so 200 means the same thing at hour four as it did at minute one. The multiplier never stacks on itself and never creeps upward while you play. Switch the mod off and you drop straight back to the stock pace, not to something slightly faster or slightly off. It also holds up if the world reloads or you rejoin a session, so a mid-walk disconnect does not leave you stuck at the wrong speed. In practice you can leave it running for as long as you like.
Why would I ever set Pace Setter below 100?
Because Big Walk is a game about the walk, and its normal pace is tuned for covering ground. Dropping to somewhere around 50 turns it into a proper amble: you notice more, conversations have room to breathe, and the island's detail actually registers instead of sliding past. It is particularly good on a stretch you have already rushed once, or when you are filming and want movement that looks unhurried. The same slider gets you the opposite when you need it, so the usual pattern is slow on the way out and fast on the way back. It pairs well with Moon Boots for covering ground upward too.
