</>What does Vacant Property (No Guards or Pets) do?
Sometimes you just want to walk through a house and take everything in it. Vacant Property clears out whoever is home: the owners, the cat, the dog, the boar, the mole, rats, roaches, redcaps, fairies, even the spiders lurking overhead. It tells you exactly how many left, so you know the place is actually empty rather than just quiet. Press Clear the House whenever it gets busy. Or turn on Keep It Empty and nobody new arrives at all, no top-ups and nothing squeezing out of the skirting boards. Turn it off and the neighbourhood goes straight back to normal, so you can strip the ground floor in peace and then hand the house back. Worth knowing: a few jobs want you to bother the people who live there, so save this for runs where you'd rather have the place to yourself, or clear it, do your looting, and let everyone back in. Whoever opens the lobby is the one who turns this on, so your friends don't need to install anything.
</>What is Vacant Property (No Guards or Pets)?
Sometimes you'd rather have a Burglin' Gnomes house entirely to yourself. Vacant Property clears out the owners, the cat, the dog, the boar, the mole and everything else lurking about, tells you how many left, and can keep the place empty for as long as you want it that way. Worth knowing before you turn it on: a few jobs ask you to bother the people who live there, so those need the residents home. Whoever opens the lobby is the one who switches it on, and friends install nothing. From ProjectMods, the community-first PC mod manager for 400+ games.
</>Common questions about Vacant Property (No Guards or Pets)
What does Vacant Property do in Burglin' Gnomes?
Vacant Property empties a Burglin' Gnomes house of everyone in it. One press of Clear the House removes the owners, the pets and every critter lurking about, and it tells you exactly how many left so you know the place is genuinely empty rather than just quiet. There's a Keep It Empty switch as well, which stops anybody new turning up for as long as you leave it on. Whoever opens the lobby is the one who turns it on, so your friends don't need to install anything.
What exactly gets cleared out?
Everything that lives in the house or wanders into it: the owners, the cat, the dog, the boar, the mole, rats, roaches, redcaps, fairies, and even the spiders lurking overhead. Vacant Property doesn't pick and choose between the things that chase you and the things that are merely unsettling - the whole household goes. Because it reports how many actually left, you get a real number instead of a hopeful message, which matters in a big Burglin' Gnomes house where the thing you didn't see is usually the thing that catches you.
What does Keep It Empty do?
It stops the house refilling. Clear the House deals with whoever is home right now, but Burglin' Gnomes will happily send more residents and critters your way afterwards, and Keep It Empty prevents that - no top-ups and nothing squeezing out of the skirting boards while it's on. Turn it off and the neighbourhood goes straight back to normal, so the usual pattern is: clear the place, keep it empty while you strip the ground floor, then hand the house back when you're done.
Does clearing the house break any jobs?
It can, so it's worth knowing about. A few Burglin' Gnomes jobs specifically want you to bother the people who live there, and an empty house has nobody left to bother. Vacant Property won't stop you emptying the place, so save it for runs where you'd rather have the house to yourself, or work in stages: clear it, do your looting, then switch Keep It Empty off and let everyone back in to finish the jobs that need them. The switch makes that easy to manage mid-run.
When is Vacant Property the right call?
When you want to walk through a Burglin' Gnomes house and simply take everything in it. It's the calm option - good for learning a layout, for hauling something large and slow that would normally get you caught, and for a co-op night where nobody wants to spend the evening hiding in a cupboard. It's also the fairest way to show a new player around. Whoever opens the lobby turns it on and friends install nothing. Lawn Ninja is the quieter alternative if you'd rather the household stayed home but never saw you.

Keep It Empty

System Requirements
What features does Vacant Property (No Guards or Pets) include?
- Clear the house in one press: owners, cat, dog, boar, mole, rats, roaches, redcaps, fairies, spiders.
- See exactly how many left, so you know the place is empty rather than just quiet.
- Keep It Empty stops anyone new arriving, including whatever squeezes out of the skirting boards.
- Turn it off and the household comes straight back, so you can hand the house back.
- Whoever opens the lobby turns it on, and the whole crew gets the quiet house without installing anything.
Best For
- Players who want to walk a whole house at their own pace and take everything in it.
- New gnomes learning where the good loot lives without a boar filling the hallway.
- Streamers touring a map room by room without a cat ending the shot early.
- Crews stripping the ground floor in peace, then letting everyone back in for the chaos.
- Runs where the jobs don't need the residents home, so you clear it, loot, then let them back in.
