</>What does Custom Radio Music do?
The station radio only knows the game's soundtrack, and a few dozen shifts in, every song on it is familiar. Switch on Add My Music To The Radio and the songs in Documents\Moon Sweepers Radio join the radio's library a moment later, each one ready to play as soon as it has finished loading in the background. MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AAC and WMA files are read, and OGG too on PCs where Windows can play it. Open Music Folder opens that folder in File Explorer and creates it if it isn't there yet. My Music Volume Percent sets how loud your songs are, from 10 to 200 with 100 as recorded. Most Minutes Of Music caps how much is loaded at once, 10 to 60 minutes with 30 to start, since every minute of music takes about 20 MB of memory. My Music Mood puts the songs in the CHILL playlist or the NOT CHILL one. Reload Music picks up files you've added or removed. Switching Add My Music To The Radio off takes your songs out of the radio queue and the library and frees the memory they used.
</>What is Custom Radio Music?
The station radio in Moon Sweepers holds a fixed soundtrack in two moods, chill and not chill. Custom Radio Music adds your own files to it with Add My Music To The Radio, Open Music Folder and Reload Music, and sets their volume, their playlist and how many minutes stay loaded. The game's own tracks are never changed, and your files never leave your PC or reach other players.
</>Common questions about Custom Radio Music
What does Custom Radio Music do in Moon Sweepers?
It turns audio files on your PC into songs the station radio understands and adds them to its library next to the soundtrack. You queue, skip and repeat them with the radio's own buttons, and they play from the station like the game's tracks, including when the radio plays everywhere.
Why did my songs leave the radio when a friend joined?
Your songs only play in solo shifts, because crewmates don't have your files and would hear silence where your song should be. When anyone else is in your lobby, or you join someone else's shift, the mod takes your songs out of the library and the shared queue, shows a note, and brings them back once you're alone.
Does Custom Radio Music read subfolders or playlists?
No. Only audio files sitting directly inside the Moon Sweepers Radio folder are read. Folders within it, playlist files and shortcuts to songs stored elsewhere on your PC are all passed over, so an album kept in a folder of its own needs its files moved up into the main folder before the radio can list them.
What happens to a file that won't load?
It's skipped and the others carry on. When a load finishes, a note in your shift names up to two skipped files and why, such as a missing decoder, a sample rate above 192 kHz or a song too long to fit. WAV files get a second try through a reader of the mod's own.
Will my queued songs still be there next time I load my world?
Yes, when you load it solo with Add My Music To The Radio on and the files still in the folder. Your songs are listed on the radio within a moment of the switch going on, before they've loaded, so the saved queue keeps them, and one that comes up early stays quiet until it's ready. Load the world without the files or without the mod and the radio just drops those entries, so there's nothing to tidy up before uninstalling.
What options does Custom Radio Music include?
Open Music Folder
Opens Documents\Moon Sweepers Radio in File Explorer, creating it if needed.
Add My Music To The Radio
Adds the music files in Documents\Moon Sweepers Radio (MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AAC, WMA, and OGG when Windows can play it) to the station radio's library. They play in solo shifts only, because crewmates can't hear files they don't have. Switching it off takes your songs off the radio and frees their memory.
My Music Volume Percent
How loud your songs play: 100 is as recorded, 50 is half as loud. Press Reload Music after changing it.
My Music Mood
Which of the radio's two playlists your songs join, CHILL or NOT CHILL. The library lists them either way.
Reload Music
Loads songs you added to the folder, drops ones you removed, and applies a new volume.
Most Minutes Of Music
The most music loaded at once, in minutes (up to 60 files of 15 minutes or less). Each minute takes about 20 MB of memory.
Custom Radio Music is a ProjectMods mod for Moon Sweepers that adds songs from a folder on your PC to the station radio's library, so you can queue and play them during solo shifts.
System Requirements
What features does Custom Radio Music include?
- File names become song titles. Put the artist in front with a hyphen between, spaced on both sides, and the radio shows the artist too; a track number in that spot is skipped, and other songs list Your music as the artist.
- Up to 60 files are read, in name order, and each can run for up to 15 minutes.
- Each song is copied into the game in small slices, a few milliseconds per frame, so you can keep playing while your music arrives.
- Each song gets its own cover colors on the radio, worked out from its file name the way the soundtrack's are.
- My Music Mood moves your songs between the two playlists straight away, and the radio menu's library lists them below the soundtrack, even ones added while it's open.
Best For
- The soundtrack has started repeating halfway through a marathon sweep. Copy an album's songs into the folder, press Reload Music and queue them from the library.
- Your songs come out much louder than the game's music. Set My Music Volume Percent to 60 and press Reload Music so they load again at the new level.
- You only want a handful of favourites loaded. Set Most Minutes Of Music to 15 and your music takes about 300 MB.
- Building sessions call for something faster. Choose Not chill (upbeat) in My Music Mood and press the radio's NOT CHILL button to hear your songs among the game's upbeat ones.
