Helper Crewmates
"Bring your own crew. They head for the dust."

How do I install Helper Crewmates?
Download the free ProjectMods desktop app, then install Helper Crewmates for Moon Sweepers in one click.
</>What does Helper Crewmates do?
Playing alone, every section on the Moon waits for your one tool, and the crew that could share the ground never turns up. Switch on Bring Helpers and they walk out around you, as many as Helpers says (1 to 6, 3 by default), each with its own name and suit colour and carrying the starter tool. Every helper takes its own slice of the ground around you and sweeps towards the dustiest spot it can find within Follow Distance Metres, anywhere from 4 to 30 with 12 to start. Move on and they follow. Call Helpers Over brings them all to your side at once, and Show Helper Status says what each is doing and how many sections have been finished since they arrived. The dust they sweep leaves the ground for good but never reaches a container, so it earns nothing at a depot. Switch Bring Helpers off and they go home.
</>What is Helper Crewmates?
Solo Moon Sweepers leaves a lot of Moon for one tool. Helper Crewmates adds a small crew that works the ground around you, each helper on its own side of you: Bring Helpers calls them, Helpers sets how many and Follow Distance Metres sets how far they range. Two buttons call them over and report on what they're doing. They never take a slot in your lobby.
</>Common questions about Helper Crewmates
What does Helper Crewmates do in Moon Sweepers?
It puts Moon Sweepers' own stand-in astronauts to work, the small crew its developers keep for showing the game off. The mod calls them into your shift and steers them: each one finds the dustiest ground near you, sweeps a path to it and picks the next spot when it arrives. They come out in turn as Nova, Orbit, Luna, Comet, Vega and Atlas, in suit colours taken from the developers' own crew.
Who is paid when a helper finishes a section?
The team. A section a helper finishes is completed and paid like any other, with its base bonus going into the shared money rather than to one player. The count in Show Helper Status covers every section finished since the helpers arrived, including the ones you and your robots finish.
Can a crewmate bring helpers?
No, only the host or a solo player. The ground they clean belongs to the host's world, so in a crewmate's game the switch only shows a note. As host you can bring them with friends in the lobby: the helpers exist in your game alone, and your friends simply see dust vanish where they work.
Do helpers get stuck on rocks or buildings?
No, because nothing blocks them. A helper walks in a straight line and stands on whatever is under it, so on the way to the next dusty spot it can pass through a wall, a machine or a boulder. Inside a crowded base that looks odd, so a low Helpers count suits tight spaces.
What happens to my helpers when I leave the shift?
They leave with you. Load into a shift again with Bring Helpers still on and a fresh crew walks out around you, up to the number in Helpers, wherever you happen to load in. Nothing about them is kept in your save.
What options does Helper Crewmates include?
Show Helper Status
Tells you what your helpers are doing and how many sections were finished since they came.
Helpers
How many helpers come out. Each one takes its own side of the circle around you.
Bring Helpers
Brings astronaut helpers who sweep the dustiest ground around you with the starter tool and keep up as you move; finished sections pay the team. Off sends them home. Host or solo only.
Call Helpers Over
Brings every helper next to you at once.
Follow Distance Metres
How far from you helpers look for dust. A helper further away than this walks back, and one left far behind joins you again.
Helper Crewmates is a ProjectMods mod for Moon Sweepers that brings up to six computer-controlled astronauts into your shift to sweep the dust around you and keep up wherever you go.
System Requirements
What features does Helper Crewmates include?
- Helpers sweep at an easy walk of 1.1 metres a second, moving from one dusty spot to the next instead of scrubbing the same one.
- A helper more than 3 metres outside Follow Distance Metres stops sweeping and hurries back, and one left more than 25 metres beyond it, after a drive for instance, is set down beside you.
- With no dust left within reach they wait close by, facing you, and look again every second and a half.
- Each helper cleans with the same strokes a crewmate's tool makes, so the ground behind them really comes up clean.
Best For
- You're clearing a wide crater floor on your own. Bring three helpers with Follow Distance Metres at 20 and they fan out across it while you work the middle.
- You hop between work sites in a vehicle. Leave Bring Helpers on and they turn up beside you whenever you stop, ready to sweep.
- The ground beside your base keeps leaving sections just short of finished. Set Helpers to 6 and Follow Distance Metres to 8, stand in the middle and let them comb it with you.
