</>What does Deep Mag do?

Ammo in Nightmare of Decay is scarce on purpose. You count shells, you pick your fights, and sooner or later you are swinging a knife at something that deserved a shotgun. Deep Mag removes that arithmetic. While it is on, the guns in your inventory stay loaded and firing stops costing you anything, so you can actually use the weapon the situation calls for. Turn it off and every gun goes straight back to its normal ammo rules. Best for the boss fights the game expects you to under-gun, for clearing rooms you would normally sneak past, and for a second run where you would rather enjoy the shooting than ration it.

</>What is Deep Mag?

Deep Mag takes the ammo arithmetic out of Nightmare of Decay. One switch keeps every gun in your inventory loaded and stops shots eating into your reserves, so bosses, corridor crowds and Horde Mode waves become fights you can shoot your way through. Available through ProjectMods, the community-first PC mod manager and desktop app for 400+ games.

</>Common questions about Deep Mag

What does Deep Mag do in Nightmare of Decay?

Deep Mag keeps the guns you are carrying loaded in Nightmare of Decay. While the Endless Ammo switch is on, magazines stay topped up and firing stops drawing anything out of your reserves, so the pistol, the shotgun and everything else stay usable no matter how long a fight runs. You still aim, reload animations still play, and enemies still take the same number of hits - the only thing that changes is that you never run dry. Turn the switch off and every gun returns to its own normal ammo rules, so the scarcity comes straight back.

Does Deep Mag work on every weapon or only the starting pistol?

It covers the guns in your inventory rather than one specific weapon. Whatever you are carrying in Nightmare of Decay at the time - pistol, shotgun, magnum, anything you find deeper into the manor - stays loaded while Deep Mag is switched on. Melee weapons are unaffected because they never used ammo to begin with, so the survival knife, the machete and the crowbar behave exactly as they always did. Picking up a new firearm mid-run does not require you to toggle anything either: it gets the same treatment as soon as it is in your bag.

Does Deep Mag give me weapons or items I have not found yet?

No. Deep Mag only affects ammunition for guns already in your possession in Nightmare of Decay. It does not place weapons in the world, add items to your inventory, or open anything the game has put behind exploration. If you have not found the shotgun yet, Deep Mag will not produce one. That is deliberate - the mod is aimed at removing the rationing, not the discovery. If you want your stackable supplies restocked as well as your magazines, that is Full Pockets, which tops up everything you are already carrying in a single press.

What changes when I turn the Endless Ammo switch off?

Turning the Endless Ammo switch off returns Nightmare of Decay to its normal ammo economy immediately. Your guns keep whatever they are loaded with at that moment and start consuming reserves again on the next shot, exactly as the game intends. There is no lingering effect and nothing to reset, so you can run the manor with scarcity on and flip Deep Mag on only for a boss you keep losing to. Because Nightmare of Decay is a single-player game, the switch takes effect the moment you flip it, with no restart involved.

When does Deep Mag make the biggest difference?

Boss fights and Horde Mode. Nightmare of Decay expects you to arrive at its set pieces under-gunned, and the fifty-wave Horde Mode is explicitly a test of how well you conserved shells. Deep Mag turns both into fights about aim and positioning instead of inventory maths. It also changes how a second run feels - rooms you used to sneak past become rooms you can clear, and the shotgun stops being something you save for an emergency that never quite arrives. Pair it with Heavy Hands if you want the shooting to end fights faster as well.

What options does Deep Mag include?

Endless Ammo

Master switch. Turn it off and your guns use ammo normally again.

Quick Answer

Deep Mag is a premium Nightmare of Decay mod from ProjectMods that keeps the guns in your inventory loaded and stops firing from draining your reserves, so you can use the weapon a fight actually calls for.

System Requirements

OS *: Windows 7
Processor: Dual Core 2ghz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: DirectX 10 Compatible graphics
DirectX: Version 10
Storage: 1 GB available space

What features does Deep Mag include?

  • Keeps every gun in your inventory loaded, so a reload never comes up empty at the worst moment
  • Stops shots eating into your reserves, whatever you happen to have chambered
  • Applies to each firearm you pick up along the way, not just whatever you started with
  • Lets you answer a fight with the shotgun instead of the knife the ammo count was pushing you toward
  • One switch off and every gun returns to its own normal ammo rules, with nothing left behind to undo

Best For

  • Boss fights where the game hands you a few shells and quietly hopes you enjoy the panic
  • Second and third playthroughs where counting bullets has stopped being interesting
  • Horde Mode sessions where how far you get should be about the waves, not the ammo maths
  • Players who hoard every shell for a rainy day and never once fire the good gun
  • Anyone who wants to clear a room properly and loot it at their own pace instead of tiptoeing past
