</>What does Balance of Power (Damage Control) do?
Balance of Power puts combat difficulty in your hands. Hit Harder multiplies every attack Ori lands, from Spirit Edge slashes to Spike throws, up to ten times normal damage. Tougher Ori shrinks the damage Ori takes to whatever share you choose: 50% is a gentle safety net and 0% shrugs off every ordinary hit, though instant kills like being crushed are still fatal. Smite Nearby Enemies strikes down every enemy on screen at once, perfect for clearing a crowded room. Bosses are left for you to fight, so their big set-piece battles play out properly. Everything goes back to normal the moment you switch it off.
</>What is Balance of Power (Damage Control)?
Balance of Power gives you three separate combat controls for Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Hit Harder multiplies Ori's damage from 2x to 10x, Tougher Ori trims the damage from ordinary hits to any share you pick, and Smite Nearby Enemies clears a crowded screen while leaving bosses to you. </>Common questions about Balance of Power (Damage Control)
What does Balance of Power do in Ori and the Will of the Wisps?
Balance of Power is a ProjectMods combat mod for Ori and the Will of the Wisps with three controls that each work on their own. Hit Harder multiplies every attack and skill Ori lands by the Damage Multiplier you set. Tougher Ori cuts the damage Ori takes from ordinary hits down to the Damage Taken Percent you choose. Smite Nearby Enemies strikes every regular enemy currently on screen with a finishing blow and leaves bosses for you to fight. Use one, two or all three, on any difficulty setting, and change the numbers from the launcher's mod panel while you play. Switch Hit Harder or Tougher Ori off and that part of combat goes straight back to normal.
How does Smite Nearby Enemies handle bosses in Ori and the Will of the Wisps?
Smite Nearby Enemies skips bosses on purpose. When you press it, Balance of Power strikes every regular enemy currently on screen with a finishing blow, but bosses are left alone so their scripted fights in Ori and the Will of the Wisps play out properly. A message in the game then tells you how many enemies were hit and how many bosses were left for you. It only reaches enemies you can see on screen, so anything further away is untouched until you get closer and press it again. It's a quick way to clear a crowded room without skipping the big set-piece battles.
Can Tougher Ori stop all damage in Ori and the Will of the Wisps?
Almost all of it. In Ori and the Will of the Wisps, setting Damage Taken Percent to 0 means every ordinary hit from enemies and hazards stops hurting Ori. The exception is the game's instant kills, such as being crushed, which stay fatal whatever the setting. For everything else, Balance of Power's Tougher Ori switch applies your percentage to each hit, so 50 halves the damage, 25 leaves a quarter and 100 means normal damage. The setting runs from 0 to 100, a new number takes effect within about a second with no reload needed, and it works on every difficulty setting. Switching Tougher Ori off restores normal damage exactly. If you'd rather have one switch that keeps Ori safe from being crushed too, Unbreakable Light is built for that job.
How high can the Damage Multiplier go in Balance of Power?
The Damage Multiplier runs from 2 to 10 and starts at 3. While Hit Harder is switched on, every attack and skill Ori lands in Ori and the Will of the Wisps deals that many times its normal damage, from Spirit Edge slashes to Spike throws and Spirit Arc shots. Balance of Power caps the boost at ten times, so tougher enemies can still take more than one hit: it multiplies damage rather than guaranteeing one-hit kills. You can change the number mid-fight from the launcher's mod panel and it applies within about a second. Switch Hit Harder off to return to normal damage.
Why use Balance of Power instead of changing the difficulty setting?
Balance of Power lets you set the challenge piece by piece instead of picking one preset. Keep Ori's damage normal but soften incoming hits, or keep enemies dangerous while Ori hits harder, and adjust either number whenever a stretch of Ori and the Will of the Wisps feels too tough or too easy. It never changes the difficulty chosen in the game's menu; both switches simply work on top of every difficulty setting. Nothing is written into your save, so turning the switches off puts combat back exactly as it was. It suits players who love the platforming and want the fights to match their mood.
What options does Balance of Power (Damage Control) include?
