</>What does Free Crafting & Fast Stations do?
Dragonwilds asks for a lot of materials and a lot of waiting. Every bench recipe drains your bags, the Furnace and Sawmill work through a stack one item at a time, and stations only reach linked chests within 30 metres. Free Crafting turns on the rule the game itself uses for Creative worlds: crafting and repairs take no materials at all. If you'd rather keep some cost, leave it off and set Crafting Cost Percent (0 to 200, default 100), which scales every ingredient a recipe or repair asks for. Station Speed Multiplier (1 to 100, default 1) multiplies the world's Processing Speed Scale, so the Furnace, Sawmill, Loom, Spinning Wheel, Tannery, Kiln, Grindstone, Brewing Cauldron, Campfire, Grill and every other processing station get through each item that many times faster, from the next item each one starts. Linked Chest Range (30 to 300 metres, default 30) lets stations use materials from linked chests much further away. Switching the mod off hands all of these back to your world's own settings straight away. Anything you crafted stays yours.
</>What is Free Crafting & Fast Stations?
Crafting in Dragonwilds is a loop of gathering, loading stations and waiting. This mod shortens every step of it through the game's own world rules: the Crafting Cost Scale that Creative worlds set to zero, the Processing Speed Scale that Custom worlds can raise, and the range at which stations reach linked storage. Each is changed in memory only, so your world's saved settings never move.
</>Common questions about Free Crafting & Fast Stations
What does Free Crafting & Fast Stations do in RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
It takes the material cost and the waiting out of crafting. Bench recipes and repairs can cost nothing or a percentage of normal, processing stations run up to 100 times faster, and stations can use linked chests from much further away. It does all of this by adjusting three rules the game already has, two of them the same ones a Custom world lets you set.
Do processing stations also stop using up what I put in them?
No, stations still consume the ore, logs, hides or food you load into them. Free Crafting and Crafting Cost Percent apply to crafting at benches and to repairs, while Station Speed Multiplier only changes how long each item takes. A Furnace at 50 still needs the same ore for every bar; it simply finishes each one fifty times sooner.
Which chests count for Linked Chest Range?
Only linked chests, the ones stations already draw from. New chests start linked unless you switched that off in the Gameplay settings. The mod never ticks a chest's link box for you; it only lets a linked chest sit up to 300 metres away instead of 30.
Does crafting without materials still give XP and unlock achievements?
Yes, every craft runs through the game's normal crafting, so it awards the usual XP for that recipe's skill. Levels you reach that way, and achievements such as Stab, Slash, Crush! for constructing a weapon or The School of Jewels for Artisan 99, are awarded by the game itself, so the mod can help you earn them sooner.
Do faster stations and free crafting apply to friends in my world?
It works in solo worlds and in worlds you host with friends who agree to it. Processing stations are run by the host's game, so with Station Speed Multiplier raised every Furnace, Sawmill and campfire in your world speeds up for everyone using it. Crafting costs and the reach of linked chests are also checked by each player's own game before a craft starts, so treat Free Crafting, Crafting Cost Percent and Linked Chest Range as settings for you as the host. In a world someone else hosts, their game and their world settings decide everything, so the mod hands every value back and changes nothing there.
Will my world keep these settings after I switch the mod off?
No. The cost, speed and range are held in memory while the mod runs and handed back to your world's own values the moment you switch it off or leave the world. Nothing is written into your world's saved settings. Items you crafted, repaired or smelted in the meantime are ordinary items and stay in your inventory and chests.
What options does Free Crafting & Fast Stations include?
Free Crafting
Crafting and repairs take no materials, the same rule the game's Creative worlds use.
Station Speed Multiplier
Processing stations such as the Furnace, Sawmill, Loom and Campfire finish each item this many times faster, from the next item they start. 1 is the world's own speed.
Crafting Cost Percent
Scales every ingredient a craft or repair asks for while Free Crafting is off. 100 is the world's own cost, 0 is nothing.
Linked Chest Range
How far, in metres, crafting stations reach to use materials from linked chests. 30 is the game's own range.
Free Crafting & Fast Stations is a ProjectMods mod for RuneScape: Dragonwilds that removes or scales crafting and repair costs, makes processing stations up to 100 times quicker and widens the range of linked chests.
System Requirements
What features does Free Crafting & Fast Stations include?
- Free Crafting sets the world's crafting cost to zero, so bench recipes and repairs go through with empty bags, exactly as they do in a Creative world.
- Crafting Cost Percent scales each ingredient count instead, rounded the game's way: at 50 a recipe needing 4 planks asks for 2.
- Station Speed Multiplier divides the time every processing station spends on each new item, from the Furnace and Sawmill to the Grill and the Imbuing Barrel.
- Linked Chest Range stretches the 30 metre reach that stations use to pull materials from linked chests, up to 300 metres.
Best For
- Testing building and gear ideas without a supply run first, so switch on Free Crafting and make every item you want to try straight from the bench.
- Feeding a big smelting batch before a boss attempt, so set Station Speed Multiplier to 20 and a full Furnace finishes while you sort your bags.
- Running a base whose storage rooms sit far from the workshop, so set Linked Chest Range to 120 and the benches reach those chests anyway.
- Keeping some challenge while cutting the grind, so leave Free Crafting off, set Crafting Cost Percent to 50 and every recipe costs half.
