Download the free ProjectMods desktop app, then install Research Flood for Upload Labs in one click.
</>What does Research Flood do?
Research Flood writes directly to Globals.currencies['research'] and raises max_research so you immediately gain any level-locked upgrades. The base game forces you to idle for research while your network runs — this mod skips that entirely. Combine with Big Brain if you still want the multipliers to keep pace for later endgame content. Slider range 1k to 1 quadrillion.
</>What is Research Flood?
Research Flood is a research-injection mod for Upload Labs by ProjectMods. It writes directly to Globals.currencies['research'] and lifts max_research at the same time, so any level-locked upgrade becomes available the moment you apply it. Slider range: 1,000 to 1 quadrillion. Pairs with Big Brain for multiplier-driven endgame pacing.
</>Common questions about Research Flood
How does the 1k to 1 quadrillion research slider scale?
The Research Flood slider is logarithmic across roughly 12 orders of magnitude, so dragging it covers the full Upload Labs research economy in a single pass. The low end (1,000 to about 1 million) is sized for early progression: enough to clear the first level-locked tiers without trivialising mid-game decisions. The middle band (1 million to 1 billion) lands you in mid- and late-game upgrade territory. The top end (1 trillion to 1 quadrillion) is intended for sandbox or post-completion play where you want every node unlocked at once. Each drag of the slider writes that exact value into Globals.currencies['research'] on apply, so you choose how much of the curve to skip.
Why does Research Flood bump both research currency and max_research?
Upload Labs gates many upgrades behind max_research, not just current research. If a mod only injected currency, you would have the numbers on screen but the level-locked nodes would still refuse to unlock because your max_research had never reached the required threshold. Research Flood lifts both values at the same time, so the moment you apply it the game treats you as having genuinely earned that research peak. That is what makes upgrades immediately available instead of just visually affordable. It mirrors how legitimate progression would update both fields, which keeps the rest of the save state internally consistent.
How is Research Flood different from Big Brain?
Research Flood and Big Brain solve different problems in Upload Labs. Research Flood is an instant injection: it writes a chosen research amount and raises max_research, so level-locked upgrades unlock the moment you apply it. Big Brain does not hand you research directly; instead it scales multipliers on your existing research generation, and you still need GPUs and an active network to produce it. Use Research Flood when you want to skip the idle wait entirely. Use Big Brain when you want to keep the loop running but accelerate it. They target different points in the progression curve and neither replaces the other.
Should I combine Research Flood with Big Brain?
Combining the two is the intended late-game setup for players who want both an unlock shortcut and a faster ongoing loop. Apply Research Flood once to skip the level-locked tier and instantly access the upgrades you care about, then leave Big Brain enabled so your GPUs and network keep generating research at a higher multiplier for the endgame content that scales with totals over time. This pairing helps when you reach upgrades that demand both an immediate unlock and a sustained research income. They write to different parts of the game state, so they do not conflict when used together.
Does my research stay if I disable Research Flood later?
Yes. Research Flood is a one-shot write to the save state rather than a continuous multiplier, so once you have applied it the new Globals.currencies['research'] value and raised max_research belong to the save, not to the mod. Toggling the mod off afterwards does not roll either value back. If you uninstall the mod or stop loading it, the research you injected and the upgrades it unlocked remain exactly where you left them. The slider only changes the save again the next time you deliberately apply it, so you can use Research Flood as a single course-correction without committing to running it every session.

Research Flood is an Upload Labs mod that writes directly to Globals.currencies['research'] and raises max_research, so level-locked upgrades unlock immediately. Slider scales from 1,000 to 1 quadrillion research.
What features does Research Flood include?
- Slider goes from 1,000 research points all the way up to a quadrillion, so you can nudge yourself past one gate or nuke the whole tree at once
- Raises max_research alongside the deposit, so level-locked upgrades actually unlock instead of just sitting there greyed out
- Writes straight to Globals.currencies['research'] for an instant top-up, no GPU farm required
Best For
- Skipping the early-game GPU grind so you can actually see the upgrades the tree is hiding behind level walls
- Stress-testing a build idea by unlocking every node at once and seeing which combo actually carries the run
- Setting up endgame content quickly when you want to mess with the deep tree instead of idling for another afternoon
