</>What does Brainwave (Research Complete) do?
Half of what makes Airborne Empire interesting is locked behind a research tree you unlock a branch at a time. Brainwave lets you decide how much of that you want to play through. Finish All Research opens the lot, every blueprint available from your next build menu onwards. Reveal All Blueprints is the gentler option - you can see everything the tree holds and still have to research it. Instant Research leaves the pacing intact but removes the waiting: whatever you start finishes straight away. Ideal for a second playthrough where you already know the tree and just want to get building.
</>What is Brainwave (Research Complete)?
A lot of what Airborne Empire has to offer sits behind a research tree you open one branch at a time. Brainwave lets you choose how much of that you play through: finish the whole tree in one press, reveal every blueprint so you can plan ahead, or keep the pacing and have each research finish instantly. Free from ProjectMods, the community-first modding platform for 400+ PC games.
</>Common questions about Brainwave (Research Complete)
What does Brainwave do in Airborne Empire?
Brainwave opens up the research tree in Airborne Empire, and it lets you decide how far you want that to go. Blueprints for new buildings are normally gated behind a tree that opens one branch at a time while your researchers work. Brainwave offers three levels of help. Finish All Research opens every branch at once, so everything is available from your next build menu onwards. Reveal All Blueprints is the gentler option: you can see everything the tree holds and plan around it, but you still have to research it. Instant Research leaves the pacing alone and simply removes the waiting, finishing whatever you start straight away.
What is the difference between Finish All Research and Reveal All Blueprints?
Finish All Research gives you the buildings; Reveal All Blueprints only gives you the information. Press Finish All Research and every branch of the Airborne Empire tree opens at once, so every blueprint it holds becomes something you can actually place. Reveal All Blueprints shows you the same list but leaves the tree locked, so you can see what is coming, plan which branch to chase and design your city around buildings you have not earned yet. If you want the research game intact but hate planning blind, Reveal is the one to pick. If you are on a repeat run and already know the tree, Finish All Research gets you building faster.
Does turning Brainwave off re-lock the research tree?
No, and this is the one thing worth knowing before you press it. Completing research in Airborne Empire is permanent, so once Finish All Research has opened the tree, it stays open for that playthrough and saving afterwards keeps it that way. Switching Brainwave off does not put the branches back or take the blueprints away. The mod tells you this up front rather than letting you find out later. Instant Research behaves differently because it is a switch rather than a one-time press: turn it off and any research you start after that takes its normal time again. If you want to keep the tree intact, use Reveal All Blueprints instead.
What does Instant Research change compared to opening the whole tree?
Instant Research keeps the shape of the research game and removes only the waiting. The Airborne Empire tree still opens one branch at a time, you still choose what to study next, and you still work through it in the order you decide — each project just finishes the moment you start it instead of ticking away in the background. Finish All Research skips that decision-making entirely by opening everything at once. If you enjoy picking a research path but resent watching a bar fill, Instant Research is the switch to use. It is also the only one of Brainwave's three options you can turn back off.
Why would I use Brainwave on a second Airborne Empire playthrough?
Because on a repeat run you already know what the tree holds, and unlocking it a branch at a time is repeating homework rather than playing. Brainwave lets you skip straight to the part you came back for. Press Finish All Research and every blueprint is available from your next build menu, so you can go straight at the sky city you have been imagining since your first run ended. If that feels like too much at once, Instant Research keeps the research choices in play while removing the waiting, which suits a second run where you want the pacing but not the downtime.

System Requirements
What features does Brainwave (Research Complete) include?
- Opens every branch of the research tree in one press, with everything available from your next build menu
- Reveals what the whole tree holds without completing it, so you can plan around buildings you haven't reached
- Finishes whatever you start studying straight away, keeping the tree's order intact but losing the wait
- Lets you choose how much pacing you keep: the full unlock, a look ahead, or just faster study
- Keeps completed research completed, so switching the mod off later never re-locks anything you opened
Best For
- Second playthroughs where you already know the tree and just want to get on with building
- Laying out an ambitious stretch of your sky city around buildings that are still several branches away
- Players who like the research pacing but not the gap between one branch finishing and the next starting
- Hitting a quest that wants a building you haven't unlocked yet and not fancying the detour
- Creators showing off late-game architecture without a multi-hour grind to get there first
