The light on this island is genuinely lovely, and it never stays put. You crest a hill at exactly the right moment, everyone stops talking to look at it, and by the time you have all agreed it is beautiful the sun has moved on. Golden Hour holds the sky wherever you want it. Set the hour and the island stays there - late afternoon gold, flat blue midday, or the deep blue middle of the night for a walk that feels completely different. There is a separate control for the clouds, so you can slow them to a crawl for a still, calm sky, or wind them up and watch weather race across the valley behind you. Turn it off and the island's own clock takes over again exactly where it left off. Lovely with Clean View when you want a picture without anything in front of it.

What does Golden Hour do in Big Walk?
Golden Hour holds the island's sky at an hour you choose instead of letting Big Walk's day run on. You set the hour on a 24-hour dial, so you can sit in late afternoon gold, flat blue midday, or the deep blue middle of the night for a walk that feels completely different. A separate control scales how fast the clouds move, from completely still to several times normal. Because it holds the clock rather than resetting it, switching the mod off simply lets the island's own day carry on from wherever it had reached, with no jarring jump in the light.
What do the different hours look like on the island?
The Hour dial runs across a full 24 hours, and Big Walk's island reads very differently at each end of it. Around 6 you get early morning — low, cool light and long shadows down the valley. 12 is flat midday, which is the least flattering for photographs but the clearest for actually seeing where you are going. 18 is the one the mod is named after: low gold across the hills, the light everyone stops walking to look at. 0 puts you in the deep blue middle of the night, which turns a familiar route into something else entirely. You can change the hour at any time.
What is the Read Current Time button for?
Read Current Time tells you what the island's clock currently says, which is more useful than it sounds. Big Walk's day runs on while you walk, so if you crest a hill into light you love, you often have no idea what hour you are actually looking at. Press Read Current Time, note the number, and you can set the Hour dial to that exact value later and get the same light back whenever you want it. It is also handy for working out how far through the day you are before deciding whether to hold the sky or let it keep running.
What does the Cloud Speed control change?
Cloud Speed sets how quickly the clouds move across Big Walk's sky, as a percentage of normal. Set it to 0 and they stop dead, which gives you a completely still sky — ideal when you have held the hour and want a photograph where nothing at all is moving. Push it to 300 and weather races across the valley behind you, which looks dramatic on video and makes a stationary sky feel alive again. It is independent of the Hour dial, so you can have frozen evening light with fast-moving cloud, or midday with a sky that never shifts.
How does Golden Hour work with Clean View for taking pictures?
They solve two halves of the same problem. Golden Hour holds Big Walk's light where you want it, so the sun stops moving on while everyone is still agreeing the view is beautiful. Clean View then clears the on-screen interface and crosshair, so nothing sits in the corner of the shot. Add Eagle Eye if you want a wider frame, and you can set up a photograph properly instead of grabbing one before the moment passes. Switch all three off afterwards and the island's day picks up from where it had reached, with nothing left changed behind you.
