</>What does Tempo (Game Speed) do?
Some stretches of a cellar drag, like the long walks between cabinets near the end, and some go by too fast, like picking your way between bottles in Hardcore. Tempo lets you set the pace. Switch on Change Game Speed and the game runs at Game Speed Percent: 100 is normal, 25 is a quarter speed and 400 is four times as fast. It starts at 200. Walking and falling bottles follow it, and so does everything else that runs on game time. Switch it off and the game goes back to normal speed.
</>What is Tempo (Game Speed)?
Cellar Keeper runs at one pace, and Tempo gives you a dial for it. Switch on Change Game Speed and set Game Speed Percent anywhere from 25 to 400; walking, bottle physics and skill timers all follow, and switching off returns everything to normal. It never overrides the game's own pauses or slow-motion moments, and Speedrun or Hardcore runs at a changed speed are kept off the online leaderboards.
</>Common questions about Tempo (Game Speed)
What does Tempo do in Cellar Keeper?
It changes how fast the game itself runs. Speed it up when the end of a cellar turns into long walks between far-off cabinets. Slow it down when you want more time to react, to line up a toss or to pick your way across a Hardcore floor.
Does Tempo get in the way of pausing or Hardcore's slow motion?
No. Tempo only sets the speed while the game is at its normal pace, so when the game sets its own for the pause, the finish or the slow-motion moment after a Hardcore bottle breaks (a fifth of normal speed), Tempo waits it out and picks up again once the game is back to normal. Switching off mid-pause is safe too, because Tempo only resets a speed it set itself.
Does the run timer speed up with the game?
No, it counts real seconds whatever speed you pick. Play a cellar at 200 and you'll finish on a lower time than you would at normal speed, because you moved faster while the clock kept its pace. Play at 50 and the clock runs long.
Will a run at a different speed count on the leaderboards?
Not in Speedrun or Hardcore. If Change Game Speed is on at anything other than 100 during one of those runs, the run is marked and the game shows "This Hardcore run used Tempo, so it will stay off the online leaderboard." The mark survives a restart and clears when you start a fresh run at normal speed. Leaving the switch on at 100 marks nothing. Cozy isn't ranked online, so any speed goes there.
What options does Tempo (Game Speed) include?
Change Game Speed
Runs the game at Game Speed Percent. Switch off for normal speed.
Game Speed Percent
How fast the game runs: 100 is normal, 50 is half speed, 200 is double.
Tempo is a ProjectMods mod for Cellar Keeper that lets you run the whole game at anything from 25 to 400 percent of its normal speed, so slow stretches go quicker and tricky ones give you more time.
System Requirements
What features does Tempo (Game Speed) include?
- Skill effects and cooldowns run on game time, so at 200 they pass twice as fast and at 50 they last twice as long in real seconds.
- A new Game Speed Percent takes over within a tenth of a second, mid-run, with no reload.
- It works from the title screen as well, so the game is already at your speed when a cellar loads.
Best For
- The last few hundred bottles are scattered across the cellar and the walking drags. Set Game Speed Percent to 300 and the final stretch takes a third of the time.
- Hardcore keeps ending because you stood on a bottle a moment too long. That half-second limit runs on game time, so practise at 50 and you get a full second to step off.
- You're recording a full tidy-up and want it to play back quickly without editing. Record it at 400.
