</>What does Dead Man Walking do?
You keep a graveyard, which does not make you any good at staying out of one. Dead Man Walking flips a single switch: your health stops going down. Whatever was swinging at you carries on swinging, it just stops landing anything that counts. That turns the rough half of the map into somewhere you can simply walk. Go and see what lives at the far end of the woods, clear out a spot you have been quietly avoiding for hours, or carry a full load home through the dark without the run ending badly two steps from the gate. It is health and nothing else, on purpose. Your stamina still runs down, you still need Energy to get a day's work done, and nothing out there hits any softer than it did - the difference is that none of it takes you down. Turn it off and you are exactly as breakable as the game intended, from that second onwards.
</>What is Dead Man Walking?
Dead Man Walking is the one-switch answer to dying in Graveyard Keeper 2. Turn on Damage Immunity and nothing takes your health down, so a bad fight, a wrong turn or a long haul through somewhere dangerous stops costing you the run. Turn it off and the next hit lands normally, with nothing left behind in your save. Free-tier mod from ProjectMods.
</>Common questions about Dead Man Walking
What does Dead Man Walking do in Graveyard Keeper 2?
Dead Man Walking has one switch, Damage Immunity, and it stops anything taking your health down in Graveyard Keeper 2. Whatever normally hurts you carries on behaving exactly as it did, it simply stops moving your health bar. That makes the dangerous corners of the map somewhere you can work rather than somewhere you survive, and it means a full bag of hard-won materials never gets lost to one bad encounter on the way home. Turn the switch off and the very next hit lands normally. Nothing is written into your save, so you can flip it on for one trip and off again afterwards.
Does Dead Man Walking make enemies harmless?
Not quite. Dead Man Walking covers your health bar, not their behaviour, so hostile creatures in Graveyard Keeper 2 still notice you, still come for you and still swing. Everything looks and sounds exactly as it always did, the damage simply never lands on you. If you would rather they left you alone entirely, that is Play Dead, a separate mod in the ProjectMods catalogue that stops them picking you as a target in the first place. The two cover different halves of the same problem and run happily together if you want the quietest possible trip out.
Does it stop my energy running out too?
No. Dead Man Walking is about your health bar in Graveyard Keeper 2 and nothing else, so energy still drains from chopping, digging, mining and crafting, and a night's sleep is still what puts it back. That is on purpose rather than an oversight: one switch that quietly moved every bar at once would be a lot harder to keep track of. If it is the energy side you want handled, Graveyard Shift keeps that pool topped up, and Clear Head deals with the meter beside it. All three are separate switches you can mix.
Can I turn Damage Immunity off in the middle of a fight?
Yes. Damage Immunity is a normal switch in the ProjectMods launcher, so you can flip it on and off whenever you like during a Graveyard Keeper 2 session and it takes effect from that point on. There is no restart, no reload and no save edit involved. That makes Dead Man Walking easy to use as a safety net for one specific stretch, say a trip into somewhere unpleasant or a haul back with a full bag, and then switch off again so the rest of your run keeps its teeth. Turn it off and your health behaves normally from the next hit onwards.
Why would I use Dead Man Walking?
Because Graveyard Keeper 2 is mostly a game about the graveyard, the workbenches and the church, and the fighting is the part that keeps interrupting all three. Dead Man Walking lets you treat combat as scenery so you can get on with the actual work, which also makes it handy for recording video or streaming when you would rather not lose a run mid-sentence. It is equally good for exploring a corner of the map you are not equipped for yet. Switch it back off when you want the risk back, since nothing about it is permanent.

System Requirements
What features does Dead Man Walking include?
- Stops anything taking your health down, so a bad fight is an inconvenience rather than a run ender
- Leaves everything else alone - stamina, Energy and enemy strength all behave exactly as normal
- One switch on, one switch off, with nothing written into your save either way
- Makes the rough corners of the map somewhere you explore rather than somewhere you avoid
Best For
- You want to see the whole map without a wandering something ending an hour of hauling
- Players who came for the graveyard, the farm and the workbenches and tolerate the fighting at best
- Carrying a full bag home through the dark when losing it would genuinely ruin the evening
- Anyone learning a new area who would rather scout it first and fight it properly later
