</>What does Dust Color & Contrast do?
Grey dust on grey ground makes it hard to see which strips you've swept, especially late in a long shift. Switch on Change Dust Color and pick a Dust Color: Natural grey, Blue (the default), Pink, Green, Purple, Gold, Teal or Red. Dust Brightness Percent makes the dust darker or lighter, from 50 to 200 with 100 as normal, and on Natural grey it's the only change. Lighter stops short of a glow in full sunlight, so above 100 a strong color turns paler rather than brighter, and Natural grey levels off around 125. High Contrast Mode works on the swept ground instead. It dims cleaned ground to Cleaned Ground Brightness Percent, 20 to 100 with 45 to start, and doubles the shading along the edge where dust has been cut away. Each switch puts the game's own look back the moment you turn it off.
</>What is Dust Color & Contrast?
Almost everything underfoot in Moon Sweepers is a shade of grey, which hides the dust you've missed. Dust Color & Contrast changes the look of the ground with two switches: Change Dust Color, with its color list and Dust Brightness Percent, and High Contrast Mode, with Cleaned Ground Brightness Percent. How much dust there is, what it weighs in your container and what it sells for are never touched.
</>Common questions about Dust Color & Contrast
What does Dust Color & Contrast do in Moon Sweepers?
It changes how the dust and the cleaned ground look on your screen, and nothing else. The Moon still holds the same dust, your robots and vehicles clean it the same way, and a full container weighs what it always did. Turn both switches off and the ground looks exactly as the game drew it before.
Does the dust my brush, wheels and boots kick up change color too?
Mostly, yes. The clumps your brush flicks into the air take your color, and so do the dust trails behind vehicle wheels and the puffs from your boots, within a couple of seconds of switching on. The small puffs right at the brush head stay grey, because the game gives them a fixed color with nothing to tint. Dust Brightness Percent reaches the ground and the clumps only, so wheel and boot dust change color but keep their usual brightness.
Can the color look different in the dark plains?
Yes, it can come out a shade stronger there. The plains carry a slightly blue-grey dust tint of their own, and the mod multiplies your color into that one too, so how deep it looks depends on how the game blends the two. A lower Dust Brightness Percent tones it down.
Why do the map and the globe at the Collector still show grey dust?
They draw their own small Moon with a separate material, while the mod recolors the ground you actually walk and sweep on. Both keep the game's usual grey whatever you choose, along with their colors for finished, partly cleaned and untouched sections.
Will my crewmates see my dust color?
No. The colors are set inside your own game, so each crewmate sees the Moon the way their own settings paint it, which is natural grey unless they run this mod too. It works the same whether you host, play solo or join a friend's shift, and nothing is sent to anyone.
What options does Dust Color & Contrast include?
Cleaned Ground Brightness Percent
How bright cleaned ground is in High Contrast Mode: 100 is the normal brightness, 45 is a bit under half.
Dust Color
The color Change Dust Color gives the dust. Natural grey keeps the color and only changes its brightness.
Change Dust Color
Paints the Moon's dust in the color chosen below, at Dust Brightness Percent, along with the clumps your brush throws up and the dust from wheels and boots. Only your game changes. Switching it off brings back the natural grey.
High Contrast Mode
Darkens the ground you have already cleaned and sharpens the cut edge of the dust, so dust you missed stands out. Switching it off brings back the normal look.
Dust Brightness Percent
How bright the dust is with Change Dust Color on: 100 is the color as picked and lower is darker. Higher is lighter only up to a limit that keeps sunlit dust from glowing, so strong colors turn paler and Natural grey stops getting lighter at about 125.
Dust Color & Contrast is a ProjectMods mod for Moon Sweepers that recolors the Moon's dust, sets how bright it looks, and darkens cleaned ground so unswept dust is easier to spot.
System Requirements
What features does Dust Color & Contrast include?
- The dust keeps its grain. Your color tints the powder through the game's own dust tint instead of painting over it.
- Change the color or the brightness with the switch on and the ground follows within a quarter of a second.
- Your settings carry into every shift you load, and none of it is written into your save.
Best For
- By the end of a session every swept strip blends into the grey around it. Turn on High Contrast Mode with Cleaned Ground Brightness Percent at 35 and the dust you skipped stands out against the dark ground.
- Your robots cleared a far crater and you want to check their work from its rim. Gold at Dust Brightness Percent 130 makes the spots they left easy to see from a distance.
- Hours of grey are wearing on your eyes. Switch on Change Dust Color with Teal at a brightness of 90 for a softer Moon.
