</>What does Vehicle Sweep Guides do?
Lining up the next pass in a sweeper is guesswork. Leave a gap and a thin ribbon of dust survives between two strips. Overlap too much and you spend the shift cleaning clean ground. Show Sweep Guides puts a line along each edge of the strip your vehicle cleans, starting at the brushes and reaching Guide Length Metres ahead of the vehicle, 3 to 30 with 10 to start. Only While Brushes Are On hides the lines while the brushes are switched off. Guide Thickness Centimetres sets how thick they are, from 2 to 20 with 6 by default, and Guide Colour picks yellow, white, cyan, green, orange, magenta or red. Turn Show Sweep Guides off and the lines are gone.
</>What is Vehicle Sweep Guides?
In Moon Sweepers you only see where a vehicle's strip ended once the dust is gone, which makes neat rows hard. Vehicle Sweep Guides draws those edges for you before you reach them. Show Sweep Guides turns the lines on, Only While Brushes Are On hides them when you aren't sweeping, and length, thickness and colour can all be set. It draws lines and nothing else: vehicles, brushes and dust behave as normal.
</>Common questions about Vehicle Sweep Guides
What does Vehicle Sweep Guides do in Moon Sweepers?
It shows where your brushes will clean before you get there. The lines start at the vehicle's cleaning point, the spot where its brushes or intake take up the dust, so the ground between them is exactly what the next stretch of straight driving will clean.
Why don't the lines bend when I turn?
They always point straight ahead of the vehicle and don't try to guess a turn. While you steer, the strip you actually clean curves away from them, so they're for lining up straight passes. On a long bend, straighten up for a moment before you judge the gap to the last pass.
Why do the lines start under my vehicle?
Because that's where some vehicles clean. The lines begin at the cleaning point, and on several vehicles the brushes sit under or behind the cab. A vehicle with no brush position of its own starts them 1.7 m in front of its middle. Either way they reach at least 2 m past the brushes, even with Guide Length Metres set low.
Can my crewmates see my guide lines?
No. They're drawn in your own game only, so nobody else sees them and nobody else needs the mod. They work the same in a friend's shift as in your own, because they come from the vehicle you're driving, and they never change what gets cleaned.
What options does Vehicle Sweep Guides include?
Guide Length Metres
How far ahead of the vehicle the lines reach, in metres. They start at the brushes.
Guide Thickness Centimetres
How thick the lines are, in centimetres.
Guide Colour
The colour of the guide lines.
Show Sweep Guides
While you drive a cleaning vehicle, two lines on the ground mark the exact strip it cleans, running ahead of the brushes and following the ground. Off: the lines are removed.
Only While Brushes Are On
Shows the guides only while the vehicle's brushes are switched on. Off: they show whenever you drive a cleaning vehicle.
Vehicle Sweep Guides is a ProjectMods mod for Moon Sweepers that marks both edges of the strip your vehicle cleans with lines laid along the ground ahead of it, so each pass can sit right beside the last.
System Requirements
What features does Vehicle Sweep Guides include?
- The edges come from the vehicle's own cleaning point and width, the same figures the game cleans with, so a lunar sweeper's lines sit 2.8 m apart and a push sweeper's 1.35 m.
- A wider strip from Suction Control, or from Wider Cleaning and Full Suction in Vehicle Speed & Width, moves the lines out to match.
- Each line is built from steps of about a metre, at most 16 of them, with every point set on the ground below it, so the lines hug bumps and crater edges.
- The crew transport van doesn't clean, so it gets no lines.
Best For
- You're working across a wide crater floor in the mega vacuum rover. Leave Guide Length Metres at 10 and steer so the left line runs along the edge of your last pass.
- You only want the lines while you sweep, not on the drive to the next site. Switch on Only While Brushes Are On and they vanish whenever the brushes are off.
- You sweep at speed with Faster Vehicles from Vehicle Speed & Width. Raise Guide Length Metres to 25 so the strip shows far enough ahead to line up in time.
