</>What does Service Speed Dial do?
PlateUp! only has one tempo, and it's not always the one you want. The dinner rush can be too frantic to think in, while the quiet stretches between tables drag. Service Speed Dial hands you the tempo. Slide it down to give yourself room to plan a tricky order, or wind it up to blast through the slow parts of a day. Everything moves together - chefs, diners, timers - so the restaurant stays fair, just faster or slower. Great for learning a new dish without panicking, and just as good for players who want a stiffer challenge than the game normally offers.
</>What is Service Speed Dial?
Service Speed Dial turns the pace of a PlateUp! run into something you choose. Slide down for room to plan a tricky order, slide up to push through the quiet stretches, or past normal for a stiffer challenge than the game otherwise offers. Chefs, diners and timers all move together, so the restaurant stays fair at any speed.
</>Common questions about Service Speed Dial
What does Service Speed Dial do in PlateUp!?
Service Speed Dial lets you set how fast the whole PlateUp! restaurant runs. Slide it down and everything slows - chefs, diners, timers - giving you room to think through a tricky order instead of panicking. Slide it up and the whole night runs faster, which is the quick way through the quiet stretches between tables. PlateUp! normally has one tempo, and it's not always the one you want; this makes it a setting. Everything moves together, so the restaurant stays fair at any speed - you're changing how fast the night happens, not which parts of it are hard.
Does everything slow down together, or just my chef?
Everything, together. Chefs, diners, cooking timers and the day itself all move at the speed you dial in, which is what keeps the restaurant fair. If only your chef slowed down you'd simply be worse; if only your chef sped up, the day would drag around you. Because the whole PlateUp! restaurant shifts as one, a service at half speed is the same service with more thinking time, and a service above normal is the same service compressed. That makes the dial useful for learning as well as for saving time, rather than being a straight advantage.
Can I make PlateUp! harder with Service Speed Dial, not just easier?
Yes, and plenty of people use it that way. Pushing the Game Speed slider above 1x means orders land sooner, diners arrive sooner and timers run down sooner - the same night, but with less room in it. For experienced players who have stopped finding the dinner rush frightening, that's a genuine difficulty setting the game doesn't otherwise offer. It works in the other direction too: drop below 1x while you're learning a new dish, then take the same dish at speed once you know it. One slider covers the whole range from calm to frantic.
What does the Enable Speed Dial master switch do?
It's the on/off for the whole thing. While the switch is on, the Game Speed slider is live and the whole PlateUp! restaurant runs at your chosen tempo. Turn it off and everything returns to the game's own pace in one press, with your slider setting kept for next time. It's the control you actually use mid-run - flip the dial off when the interesting part of a day starts, then flip it back on to blast through the quiet stretch afterwards.
Does Service Speed Dial change the speed for everyone in co-op?
It changes the speed of the restaurant you're hosting, which means everyone playing in it. PlateUp! hands the pace of a night to whoever is hosting, so the tempo is the host's to set - if you join someone else's game the pace is theirs, and your copy of the mod won't change it. Host the night yourself and the whole lobby cooks at the speed you dial in, which is worth agreeing on first, because dropping to half speed mid-rush is a noticeable change for three other people. It's a shared setting in practice, not a personal one.

Enable Speed Dial
Master switch. Turn off to put the restaurant back to normal speed.
