</>What does Story Skipper do?
Raft's story mode is great. The part where you spend two hours gathering materials for a receiver and three antennas before you can even start it? Less great. Story Skipper gives you everything you need to begin (or skip) the story instantly. Need a receiver? Here. Antennas? Take three. Batteries? Fully charged and ready. Enable Signal Always Good and your receiver works perfectly without any antennas mounted. Battery Always Full means you never have to replace or recharge batteries again. Just pure uninterrupted story progression. Don't want to figure out the codes? Print them all to chat or just hit Unlock All Islands and every location appears on your radar instantly. Radio Tower, Vasagatan, Balboa, Caravan Island, Tangaroa, Varuna Point - all revealed. Perfect for replaying the story without the setup, starting fresh without the grind, or just wanting to explore every island without earning it.
</>What is Story Skipper?
Raft's story is great. The hour or two it takes to gather mats for a receiver, three antennas, a battery, and the right code to start it? Less great, especially on a replay. Story Skipper hands you everything story mode needs in one panel: instant receiver/antenna/battery items, perma-good signal without antennas, perma-full batteries, and a one-click Unlock All Islands action that puts every story location on your radar (Radio Tower, Vasagatan, Balboa, Caravan, Tangaroa, Varuna Point, Temperance). Built in-house by ProjectMods, the community-first game modding platform and desktop app.
</>Common questions about Story Skipper
What does Story Skipper do in Raft?
It removes the Raft story mode setup grind. You normally have to gather materials for a receiver, three antennas, batteries, then mount the antennas and find island codes before you can even start traveling between story locations. Story Skipper hands you all those items via one-click actions in the ProjectMods options panel, plus toggles for Signal Always Good (receiver works without antennas) and Battery Always Full (batteries never run out). The Unlock All Islands action then reveals every story location on your radar at once. Built specifically for replays, recovery from corrupted saves, and players who want to focus on the actual story content rather than the setup logistics.
Can I use Story Skipper to replay the Raft story without redoing setup?
Yes — that's the primary use case. Replays in Raft are punished by having to re-gather all the receiver materials, mount antennas again, and find codes you've already memorized. Story Skipper bypasses all of that. Hit the give-item actions to instantly equip yourself with receiver and batteries, toggle Signal Always Good so antennas aren't needed, and use Unlock All Islands to put every story destination on your radar. Then go enjoy the story content — Radio Tower, Vasagatan, Balboa, Caravan Island, Tangaroa, Varuna Point — without redoing the prep work.
Does Unlock All Islands actually let me visit every Raft story location?
Yes. The Unlock All Islands action in Story Skipper reveals every story location on your radar at once and marks them as discovered. Radio Tower, Vasagatan, Balboa Island, Caravan Island, Tangaroa, Varuna Point, Temperance — all on the radar instantly. You still have to physically sail to each one and play through the content, but the discovery and unlock layer is removed. Useful for content creators who want to film a specific island without grinding to it, players who got stuck on a code, and replays where you've already memorized the order.
Will Story Skipper break the Raft story narrative?
No, the story content itself is untouched — you still play through each island, find notes, fight bosses, and experience the narrative. Story Skipper just removes the setup grind around story progression (the receiver, antenna, battery, and code-hunting layer) and the unlock gating between islands. So your first playthrough can still feel discovery-rich if you choose, or your second playthrough can fast-track through the prep to focus on the actual story beats. The mod doesn't auto-complete story content; it just removes the friction in front of it.
Does Story Skipper work in co-op multiplayer Raft?
Yes — host-side. Whoever runs the Raft session triggers the unlocks and the toggles apply to the host's save. Story-mode signal and battery toggles affect the shared raft, so the whole group benefits. Other players in co-op don't need Story Skipper installed for the host's unlocks to work, but if a teammate wants their own personal save unlocked too, they install it on their machine. Useful for co-op replays where everyone agrees the setup grind is the boring part and the actual story content is what they're there for.
