Half of Ship of Fools is a lovely rhythm of load, aim, fire. The other half is sprinting back across the deck because you are empty and something enormous is about to hit you. Bottomless Barrel keeps the first half and quietly deletes the second. Switch it on and your cannons keep firing without eating your stock. No scrambling for a crate mid-fight, no rationing your good shots for the boss, no awkward pause while your crewmate reloads for you. It is especially good in solo runs, where you are doing the job of two people and the run back to the ammo box is usually what gets you hit. Works alongside Broadside Barrage if you would like your endless shots to hit considerably harder as well.

The only thing that changes is the supply behind it: firing no longer eats into what you are carrying, so the cannon never sits empty waiting on a restock. Yes. New cannons occasionally arrive a beat behind, and the mod simply brings them into line the moment they do, so you will not need to toggle it off and on again to catch them up. Is there anything to tune in Bottomless Barrel, or is it just one switch?
It is deliberately a single switch. Bottomless Barrel has one toggle, Endless Ammo, and no sliders or amounts to balance, because there is really only one thing anyone wants from it in Ship of Fools: cannons that keep firing. Turning it on takes effect straight away, and turning it off puts your ammo back on the normal count from the next shot onwards, so you can run one nasty sector with it and go back to the standard game for the next island. If you want to tune the cannons themselves rather than the supply, that is what Broadside Barrage is for, with sliders for fire rate, magazine size, damage and shot speed.
When is Bottomless Barrel most useful in Ship of Fools?
Solo runs, mostly. Ship of Fools is built for two people, and playing it alone means covering both jobs at once: steering, loading, firing, patching and swinging at whatever is climbing over the rail. The trip back to the ammo crate is usually the moment that costs you, and Bottomless Barrel deletes that trip entirely. It also earns its place in the harder tiers, where the game deliberately throws two problems at you at the same time and you cannot afford to spend the fight restocking. In co-op it takes the pressure off whoever normally plays quartermaster, so both of you can stay on cannons when the boss shows up.
