</>What does Broadside Barrage do?
Some runs you get the trinkets and the whole thing sings. Most runs you do not. Broadside Barrage lets you skip the lottery and simply set how hard your cannons hit. Four sliders, all in plain percentages where 100% is the untouched game: Fire Rate - how quickly you can keep shooting. Magazine Size - how much you carry between reloads. Cannon Damage - how much each shot takes off. Shot Speed - how fast your shots cross the water. Nudge one for a gentle leg-up or push them all for a boat that deletes whole formations. The changes apply to everyone aboard, so co-op crews both feel it. It stacks with the trinkets you find during the run rather than replacing them, so a good build still feels good on top.
</>What is Broadside Barrage?
Some runs in Ship of Fools you find the right trinkets and the whole build sings. Most runs you do not. Broadside Barrage lets you skip the lottery and simply decide how hard your cannons hit. Four sliders cover fire rate, magazine size, damage and shot speed, all in plain percentages where 100% is the untouched game, so you can nudge one dial for a gentle leg-up or push everything and delete entire formations in a volley. The boost stacks on top of the trinkets you pick up rather than replacing them, and it applies to everyone on board.
</>Common questions about Broadside Barrage
What does Broadside Barrage do in Ship of Fools?
Broadside Barrage puts your cannon power on four sliders in Ship of Fools instead of leaving it to whatever trinkets the run decides to hand you. Fire rate, magazine size, cannon damage and shot speed each get their own dial, written as plain percentages where 100% is the untouched game. Nudge one for a small leg-up on a sector that keeps beating you, or push all four and turn the Stormstrider into something that deletes whole formations before they reach you. The boost applies to everyone aboard, so a co-op crew both feel it, and it sits on top of your run's own upgrades rather than replacing them.
What do the four Broadside Barrage sliders actually change?
Each of Broadside Barrage's four sliders covers a different part of how your cannons feel in Ship of Fools. Fire Rate is how quickly you can keep shooting once you are stood at the cannon. Magazine Size is how much you carry between reloads, so a higher number means fewer trips. Cannon Damage is how much each shot takes off whatever it hits. Shot Speed is how fast the shot crosses the water, which matters more than you would think against fast movers and at long range, because a slow shot gives them time to drift out of the way. All four are set as percentages, so 150% is half again as good as the base game.
Does Broadside Barrage stack with the trinkets I pick up during a run?
Yes, and that is the point. Broadside Barrage feeds into the same cannon stats that Ship of Fools' own trinkets improve, so a good drop later in the run still adds to what you have set rather than being wasted or overwritten. If you have already found something that boosts damage and you then raise the Cannon Damage slider, you get both. It also means the numbers stay sensible: your build still reads the way the game intends, and picking up a strong trinket still feels like a reward instead of a shrug. Everyone on the crew benefits from the same settings, so a second player is not left firing the base-game cannon.
How low and how high can I set the Broadside Barrage sliders?
The floor is 100%, which is the untouched game, and everything above that is a boost. That floor is deliberate: in Ship of Fools you already have plenty of ways to have a bad time, so Broadside Barrage is built so a slider can never accidentally make your cannons worse than the base game. From there you can go as gentle or as silly as you like. A small bump on Fire Rate and Cannon Damage is enough to make a difficult sector readable, while pushing everything up turns a broadside into something that clears the screen. Each dial is independent, so you can raise one and leave the rest alone.
Which Broadside Barrage slider should I raise first?
Fire Rate, for most players. On Broadside Barrage it changes the feel of Ship of Fools more than the others, because the thing that usually kills a run is the gap between shots, not the size of each one. After that it depends on what is beating you: raise Cannon Damage if the tier's bigger enemies are soaking everything you throw at them, raise Shot Speed if you keep missing fast movers at range, and raise Magazine Size if you are spending the fight walking back and forth instead of shooting. If you would rather never restock at all, Bottomless Barrel handles the supply side and the two work happily together.
