</>What does Scorched Earth (Clear the Field) do?

Sometimes a wave is simply too much: forty units on your walls, three fire tanks lining up, a boss on top. Scorched Earth is the button for that moment. Wipe Enemies deals a killing blow to every enemy currently on the field, so drops, rewards and quest progress all count as if you had earned each one. Bosses are spared by default; flip Include Bosses on if you want them gone too. Push Back All is the gentler option - the same shockwave your castle uses when it levels up, shoving everything away so you can breathe. Both are one-shot presses, so the run plays normally in between. Keep a keybind on Wipe Enemies and you have an emergency exit for any fight.

</>Common questions about Scorched Earth (Clear the Field)

What does Scorched Earth do in Wanderburg?

Scorched Earth gives you two emergency buttons for a Wanderburg run. Wipe Enemies deals a killing blow to every enemy currently on the field, using the game's normal damage so each one dies properly: drops, rewards and quest progress all count as if you had earned every kill. Bosses are spared by default, and the Include Bosses toggle adds them to the wipe when you want it. Push Back All is the gentler option, firing the same shockwave your castle uses when it levels up to shove everything nearby away. Both are one-press actions, so the run plays normally in between presses.

Do I still get drops and rewards when I use Wipe Enemies?

Yes, everything counts. Wipe Enemies in Scorched Earth does not delete enemies from the Wanderburg field; it deals each one lethal damage in the normal way, so the game treats every death as a real kill. Coins drop where the unit fell, kill rewards are paid, and any quest that counts defeated enemies ticks up exactly as it would after a fair fight. That makes it a surprisingly good farming tool as well as a panic button: clear a dense wave, let Magnet Storm sweep up the coins, and level from it. The only thing you skip is the danger of being on the field while it happens.

Does Wipe Enemies kill bosses?

Only if you tell it to. By default, Wipe Enemies in Scorched Earth skips bosses and clears everything else on the Wanderburg field, so you can strip a boss of its escort and fight it alone. Switch Include Bosses on and the next press deals the killing blow to the boss as well, ending the fight in one go. That default exists because removing a boss by accident spoils a run you may have been enjoying, whereas clearing its escort is nearly always welcome. If you want the boss gone without a kill, Ceasefire's Banish Boss takes it off the field instead.

What does Push Back All do compared with Wipe Enemies?

Push Back All is the non-lethal option in Scorched Earth. It fires the same shockwave your Wanderburg castle releases when it levels up, shoving every enemy near you outward so you have room to turn, boost away or line up a broadside. Nothing dies and no rewards are paid; you simply get space. Wipe Enemies is the opposite end: everything on the field goes down and its drops land where it fell. Use Push Back All when a wave is manageable but crowding you, and Wipe Enemies when it is not manageable at all. Both need an active run to work.

Why would I use Scorched Earth in Wanderburg?

The obvious reason is the emergency exit: forty units on your walls, three fire tanks lining up and a boss on top is exactly the moment Scorched Earth's Wipe Enemies was built for in Wanderburg, and keeping it on a keybind means any fight has a way out. The less obvious reason is pacing. Clearing a wave on demand, with its drops and quest progress intact, lets you move through a biome you have beaten a dozen times at the speed you choose. Pair it with Ceasefire to control when the next wave comes, and with Paper Castles if you would rather weaken enemies than delete them.

What options does Scorched Earth (Clear the Field) include?

Push Back All

Shoves everything near your castle away, the same way a level-up does.

Wipe Enemies

Deals a killing blow to every enemy on the field. Drops and rewards still count.

Include Bosses

When on, Wipe Enemies takes bosses down as well.

Quick Answer

System Requirements

OS: Windows 10 or higher (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core i5 10th Generation
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 2 GB available space

What features does Scorched Earth (Clear the Field) include?

  • Deals a killing blow to every enemy on the field with one press of Wipe Enemies
  • Counts every kill properly, so coin drops, rewards and quest progress land exactly as if you earned each one
  • Spares bosses by default and only takes them down too when Include Bosses is switched on
  • Shoves everything near your castle away with Push Back All, the same shockwave your level-ups make
  • Reports how many enemies went down and how many bosses were left standing after every wipe
  • Keeps your Steam leaderboards clean: any run played with this mod active is never posted to the global or friends boards

Best For

  • Players in over their heads with forty units on the walls who need an exit before the castle cracks
  • Quest grinders working through a kill-count quest who want each wave to count without fighting it unit by unit
  • Boss hunters who wipe the escort so the fight is just them and the boss, with Include Bosses left off
  • Anyone who wants breathing room rather than a wipe: Push Back All clears a circle without ending the fight
