</>What does Power Hour (No Cooldowns & Longer Powers) do?

Eagle eye, Radioactive item and Item vacuum are the powers that find things for you, and the game keeps them on a short leash. Each one runs out after 15 to 80 seconds depending on the power, the map and your level, and at the first level you then wait two minutes or more before you can use it again. Power Hour loosens both ends. Switch on Enabled and Cooldown sets every power's wait as a percentage of normal, from 100 down to 0 in steps of 5. It starts at 0, so a power is ready again the moment you've used it. Power Duration Multiplier stretches how long those three powers last, from 1.0 to 10.0 times in steps of 0.5, starting at 3.0. The powers menu shows the new figures. Switch Enabled off and every power goes back to the timings its level gives. Having Power Hour on at all, whatever the sliders say, keeps your map times off the global leaderboards until the game restarts.

</>What is Power Hour (No Cooldowns & Longer Powers)?

Better Chaos makes you wait for every power to recharge, and Power Hour shortens the wait. Cooldown cuts every recharge to a percentage of normal, with 0 meaning no wait at all, and Power Duration Multiplier lets the three timed powers run for up to ten times as long. No money changes hands and no levels are bought, and switching it off brings the game's own timings straight back.

</>Common questions about Power Hour (No Cooldowns & Longer Powers)

What does Power Hour do in Better Chaos?

It takes the waiting out of your powers. Instead of using Eagle eye once and then sitting out a long cooldown, you can keep your powers running far longer and use each one again whenever you like, which turns them from an occasional boost into something you lean on all the time.

Why won't a power fire even with Cooldown at 0?

Cooldown is the only check Power Hour lifts. The game still wants an item in your hand, because every power works on the item you're holding, and it still wants the power bought in the powers menu. Pick something up and try again. If you haven't bought the power yet, Power Shopper's Set This Power's Level gets it for you without the grind.

How long do the timed powers last at each setting?

Whatever your level gives, times Power Duration Multiplier. The base depends on the map: a top-level Eagle eye lasts 35 seconds on Map 1, 50 on Map 2 and 60 on Map 3, and at the top of Map 3 Radioactive item lasts 80 seconds with Item vacuum on 70. At the default 3.0, Map 3's best Eagle eye runs for three minutes, and at 10.0 for ten.

Does Power Hour change the Item magnet?

Only its cooldown. The magnet is a quick pull rather than something that keeps running, so Power Duration Multiplier has nothing to stretch, and its radius stays whatever your level gives. With Cooldown at 0 you can pull again straight away. For a bigger pull, Mega Magnet multiplies the radius; run both and you get the wider reach with no wait.

Does changing Cooldown affect a cooldown that's already running?

Only a setting of 0 does: Power Hour then clears any cooldown already counting down, timer on the HUD included, so a power you used a minute ago is ready at once. Any other value applies from the next time you use the power.

What options does Power Hour (No Cooldowns & Longer Powers) include?

Cooldown

Power cooldowns as a percentage of normal. 0 means every power is ready again at once.

Enabled

Turns on the cooldown and duration changes below. Turn it off to go back to the normal timings.

Power Duration Multiplier

How much longer Eagle eye, Radioactive item and Item vacuum stay active. 1.0 is normal.

Quick Answer

Power Hour is a ProjectMods mod for Better Chaos that shortens or removes power cooldowns and keeps Eagle eye, Radioactive item and Item vacuum active for as much as ten times their usual length.

System Requirements

OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
Processor: Intel or AMD quad-core, 2.5 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti / at least 4 GB of VRAM
Storage: 5 GB available space

What features does Power Hour (No Cooldowns & Longer Powers) include?

  • Anything between 100 and 0 is a straight percentage: at 50 a two-minute cooldown takes one, and at 5 even the longest wait in the game, Item magnet's 140 seconds at its first level, is down to 7.
  • Run and Object taker have no timers, so Power Hour leaves them exactly as they are.
  • The change applies on every map at once, so switching maps doesn't reset it.
  • A power's level, its price and how far it reaches all stay as the game has them.

Best For

  • Eagle eye keeps fading before you've found the shelf. Leave Power Duration Multiplier at its default 3.0 and finish the walk with the shelf still lit.
  • You bought Item vacuum but hardly use it because of the wait. Set Cooldown to 0 and use it on every cluster of matching items you pass.
  • You want shorter waits that still make you pick your moment: set Cooldown to 50 and Power Duration Multiplier to 1.0.
