</>What does Power Shopper (Max All Powers) do?
A new map starts all six powers at zero, and the powers menu sells them one level at a time, which on a big map means a lot of shelving before you feel quick. Power Shopper hands them over. Choose one from the Power list (it opens on Item magnet), set Level from 0 to 10 (it starts at 10) and press Set This Power's Level. Lowering works too, and 0 takes the power away. Every power tops out at a ceiling that depends on the map, and Max Every Power takes all six to their ceilings in one go. Keep Powers Within Limits starts switched on and fixes any power that ends up above its ceiling. Switching Power Shopper off doesn't take any levels back: they're yours until you set them lower.
</>What is Power Shopper (Max All Powers)?
Upgrading in Better Chaos means saving up between levels on every map. Power Shopper lets you choose a power in Power, pick its Level and press Set This Power's Level, or press Max Every Power to take all six as high as the current map allows. Keep Powers Within Limits watches for any power pushed past that point. Your money, items and shelves are never touched.
</>Common questions about Power Shopper (Max All Powers)
What does Power Shopper do in Better Chaos?
It sets your power levels for you. Pick a power and a level, or max every power for the map you're on, and you skip the saving up and the trips to the powers menu. Use it to get past the slow start on a fresh map, or to turn powers down when a map you know feels too easy.
Why did I end up below the Level I asked for?
Because that's as high as the power goes on this map. Each power has its own ceiling on each map, somewhere from 3 to 10, and Set This Power's Level stops there, ending its reply with '(the highest this map allows)'. Leaving Level at 10 is the easy way to always land on the ceiling. To see all six ceilings at once, press Max Every Power: its reply lists where every power ended up.
Why did the game say Power Shopper brought powers back within this map's limits?
Keep Powers Within Limits found a power above the map's ceiling and put it back at the top. The game treats a level the map doesn't have as empty: no speed, no carrying space, no magnet, which leaves you frozen in the aisle with powers that do nothing. The check runs every two seconds, and when it fixes something your speed and carry limit come back on the spot and the game's message box says how many it fixed: 'Power Shopper brought 2 power(s) back within this map's limits.'
Do my times still count for the leaderboards?
Not once you've pressed a button. One press of Set This Power's Level or Max Every Power keeps the rest of that game session off the global leaderboards, even if all it did was lower a power. Restart Better Chaos before a run you want on the board. Keep Powers Within Limits never counts on its own, so it can stay on.
How is this different from Petty Cash's Free Powers?
Free Powers keeps the powers menu in charge: you still buy every level yourself, it just costs nothing. Power Shopper skips the menu and goes straight to the level you name, and it can go down as well as up, which buying never can. If it's money you're short of rather than powers, Petty Cash is the one you want.
What options does Power Shopper (Max All Powers) include?
Max Every Power
Puts all six powers at the highest level this map allows.
Set This Power's Level
Sets the chosen power to the level above (no money needed).
Keep Powers Within Limits
Checks every two seconds and brings any power sitting above this map's top level back down to it. A power above its top level reads as zero (no speed, no carry, no magnet), so this is what un-freezes a save that was pushed too far.
Level
The level to set it to. 0 removes the power; the ceiling depends on the map and the power (3 to 10).
Power
The power that Set This Power's Level changes.
Power Shopper is a ProjectMods mod for Better Chaos that sets your power levels for you, one power at a time or all six at once, without spending any of your money.
System Requirements
What features does Power Shopper (Max All Powers) include?
- Covers all six powers: Run, Object taker, Radioactive item, Item vacuum, Eagle eye and Item magnet.
- Raising a level runs the same upgrade the powers menu does, minus the price, so the power works exactly like one you bought.
- Your speed, carrying space and magnet reach change the moment you press, and the powers display on screen updates with them.
- Max Every Power also pulls down any power sitting above its ceiling, so one press both maxes a save and tidies it up.
Best For
- Map 2 opens with 15,655 items on the floor and an empty wallet. Press Max Every Power before the first pick-up and play the whole map at full strength.
- You only want a bigger magnet. The defaults already point there, Item magnet at Level 10, so one press of Set This Power's Level does it and the other five stay as they were.
- You know Map 1 well enough to want it harder: pick each power you've bought in turn, set Level to 0 and press Set This Power's Level.
- Item magnet is at its ceiling and the long aisles still leave stragglers. Max it here, then let Mega Magnet stretch the radius further.
