</>What does Moon Boots (Big Hops) do?

There is a lot of scenery on this island that you can very nearly reach. A ledge just above your head, a roof you can see the top of, the far side of a stream that would take four minutes to walk around. Moon Boots scales your jump so those all become one hop. Wind it up gently for a bouncy, floaty walk that still feels like the game, or crank it and start clearing whole buildings. It lifts the ceiling on how fast you can travel upwards too, so a big jump actually goes somewhere instead of getting quietly capped halfway up. Only your own jump changes, so it is friendly to use in a group. Turn it off and you land back in ordinary gravity. Try it with Soft Landing on if you plan to come down from a long way up.

</>What is Moon Boots (Big Hops)?

Moon Boots turns Big Walk's scenery into shortcuts. One percentage slider scales your jump, from a light bouncy walk to hops that clear fences, roofs and whole buildings. It lifts the ceiling on upward speed too, so a big jump goes where it should instead of being capped part-way. A ProjectMods mod that changes only your own jump.

</>Common questions about Moon Boots (Big Hops)

What does Moon Boots do in Big Walk?

Moon Boots multiplies how high you jump in Big Walk, using a single percentage slider. Tuned low it gives you a light, bouncy walk that still feels like the game; tuned high it clears fences, roofs and entire buildings, which turns a lot of the island's scenery into shortcuts. It also lifts the ceiling the game normally places on how fast you can travel upward, so a big jump actually reaches its height instead of being quietly capped part-way up. Only your own jump changes, so it is safe to use while walking with friends, and your jump goes straight back to normal when you switch it off.

Why does Moon Boots also raise the upward speed limit?

Because without it, a big jump does not go anywhere. Big Walk puts a ceiling on how fast you can travel upward, and once you push the jump multiplier past a certain point that ceiling quietly eats the extra height — you press jump harder and get the same result. Moon Boots raises the limit alongside the jump strength, so the number on the slider actually matches how high you go. It is why winding the slider up keeps paying off instead of stalling out at moderate settings. You do not have to think about it; there is one slider and the ceiling follows it automatically.

What jump multiplier should I use?

Jump Multiplier is a percentage where 100 is Big Walk's normal jump. Around 250 clears most fences, walls and low ledges, which is the setting that makes the island feel a bit more open without breaking the walk — you still take the paths, you just stop going the long way round streams. Around 600 clears most buildings and turns rooftops into somewhere you can stand. Below 100 you get a shorter, heavier hop if you want it. Somewhere near 150 is a nice everyday setting for a gently floaty walk, and you can wind it up when a specific bit of scenery is in the way.

Does Moon Boots keep working if the world reloads or I rejoin?

Yes. Moon Boots keeps track of Big Walk's normal jump, so if the world reloads or you drop back into a session the multiplier carries on doing exactly what the slider says — it does not double up on itself or quietly wear off. That also means switching the mod off returns you to exactly the stock jump, not an approximation of it. Your friends are unaffected throughout; only your own jump changes, so nobody else needs anything installed and nobody else suddenly starts bouncing. It is one of the safer mods to leave on during a long group walk.

Should I use Moon Boots with Soft Landing?

It is the natural pairing, yes. The higher you jump in Big Walk, the further there is to come back down, and the game makes a proper meal of a long drop — you crumple, the screen swims, and you spend a few seconds gathering yourself while everyone else walks on. Soft Landing takes that recovery out, so a big hop ends with you simply carrying on. Together they remove the main downside of experimenting with height: you can jump onto a roof, misjudge it, land badly and immediately try again. Pace Setter is the other one worth pairing it with, for covering ground forwards as well as upwards.

What options does Moon Boots (Big Hops) include?

Moon Boots Enabled

Master switch. Turn off to go back to your normal jump.

Jump Multiplier

How high you jump, as a percentage of normal. 100 is stock, 250 clears most fences, 600 clears most buildings.

Quick Answer

Moon Boots multiplies your jump in Big Walk and lifts the game's cap on upward speed, so big hops actually reach their full height. From ProjectMods, the PC mod manager for 400+ games.

System Requirements

OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Processor: Intel Core i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X

What features does Moon Boots (Big Hops) include?

  • Multiplies your jump on a slider - 250 clears most fences, 600 clears most of the island's buildings.
  • Raises the ceiling on how fast you travel upward, so a big hop reaches its height instead of stopping short.
  • Dials down to a light, bouncy setting that still feels like an ordinary Big Walk stroll, only springier.
  • Leaves everyone else's jump alone, so you can keep it on without changing how your friends move.
  • Drops you back into ordinary gravity on switch-off, and holds its settings through a reload or a rejoin.

Best For

  • Reaching the ledge you can see the top of but never quite get to on the route the walk actually takes.
  • Skipping the four-minute hike around a stream when the far bank is sitting right there in front of you.
  • Rooftop tours of the island's little buildings, with Soft Landing switched on for the way back down.
  • Players on their second time round the island who would rather take the vertical shortcut than the scenic one.
  • Seeing how few hops it takes to get up a hillside your friends are dutifully switchbacking their way along.
