With Perfect Grain on, every piece you cut scores 100% Grain Quality whichever way you turn it, so you can place pieces for the look you want, or just squeeze more out of a short length of fabric. Switch it on halfway through a dress and the pieces you've already cut rise to 100% too, so there's no need to recut them. Scissor Speed is a slider from 1x (normal) to 10x that makes the scissors race round each piece and the used fabric slide away faster. At 10x the scissors move ten times faster, tight corners and detailed outlines included.

Yes. With Sharp Shears' Perfect Grain switch on, every pattern piece you cut in Dressmaker scores 100% Grain Quality at any angle, so turning a piece with the rotation knob never costs you quality. That lets you place pieces for the look you want, with stripes or prints running in any direction, or squeeze more pieces onto your fabric by fitting them together at whatever angle works. Normally you'd line each piece up with the grain to protect its Grain Quality. With Perfect Grain on, the angle is purely a design choice.
Does the grain line arrow still work with Sharp Shears on?
Yes. With Sharp Shears' Perfect Grain switch on in Dressmaker, the grain line arrow still shows its usual colours, so you can use it as a guide whenever you want a piece to sit on the grain for the look of it. The difference is that it no longer matters for the score: every piece you cut gets 100% Grain Quality regardless, and the rotation knob's grain readout shows 100% too. The arrow becomes a styling aid rather than a test you can fail, which is handy on fabrics where a print's direction matters to you.
How fast can Sharp Shears make the scissors cut?
Up to ten times normal speed. Sharp Shears' Scissor Speed slider runs from 1x to 10x in Dressmaker and starts at 1x, the game's normal pace. Turn it up and the scissors cut round each pattern piece faster, and used fabric slides away faster when you discard it, so making room for more pieces takes less time. At 10x the scissors move ten times faster, tight corners and detailed outlines included. When a piece is finished, there's still the usual short pause before its Grain Quality pops up. You can change it any time and it applies straight away. The scissors follow each piece's outline for you, so a fast cut comes out exactly the same as a slow one. Scissor Speed works with or without Perfect Grain switched on.

A lot. Grain Quality is a big part of a dress's quality score in Dressmaker, alongside how accurately you sewed it and, for a client, how well it fits.
