Does faster prep mean nothing burns any more?
No, and this is the one thing to know before you turn it on. Mise En Place makes timed jobs finish sooner; it does not make food fireproof. Leave a pan on a hob past its finish and it will burn exactly as it always did - arguably sooner in real terms, because everything reaches its finish faster too. In practice the mod buys you time rather than removing the consequence: you get to the pan sooner because you were not stuck at the chopping board. Which jobs does the Prep Speed slider affect?
The timed ones - chopping, cooking, washing up and the other jobs where your chef stands at a station waiting for a bar to fill. The boost scales with whatever the station is already doing, so a job that normally takes a long time still takes proportionally longer than a quick one; the whole kitchen just runs at a higher tempo. Walking speed is not part of it, and neither is how quickly customers order or eat - this is specifically the standing-still part of a service. What does the Faster Prep master switch do?
It turns the whole effect on and off in one press. With it on, the Prep Speed slider is live and every timed job in your PlateUp! kitchen runs at the tempo you set. Turn it off and every job goes back to its normal speed immediately, with your slider position remembered so you can flip it straight back on later. That makes it easy to run a genuinely hard day at normal speed and then switch the boost on for the fiddly dish you have not learned yet, rather than committing to one tempo for a whole fifteen-day run.
Does Mise En Place speed up prep when I join a friend's PlateUp! game?
No. PlateUp! runs its kitchen timers on the host's machine, so a joining player cannot change how fast a pan cooks. Mise En Place takes effect in single-player and when you are hosting the lobby - host it yourself and the whole restaurant runs at your chosen tempo, which everyone at the table feels immediately. It is a genuine limitation rather than a setup problem, so there is nothing to configure if it does not appear as a guest. The same applies across our PlateUp! mods that change customers, money, fires or timings.
